Woodward's last couple of hires have not been as tightly sealed/lipped as one would think

and they're not necessarily Scott's fault. Someone eventually talks.
Going back to the Jimbo to A&M courtship, Randy McAvoy from KPRC Houston reported mid-season that Woodward was going gung-ho after Fisher and even correctly reported the entirety of the contract numbers down to the penny. How does one get all of this stuff nailed down weeks in advance to anything happening?
The Mulkey hire was not tight lipped either, there were multiple posters on multiple LSU boards who called it weeks in advance, all of whom seemed to have some sort of contact from within either camp.
Let's not forget Bmac who had the Jay Johnson news before anyone else did.
now these leaks aren't Woodward's fault, someone eventually talks on both sides.

The manager of Office Depot will be tLeak when it comes out that bulk manila folders have been ordered

You are right. No matter what there are always leaks. Human nature is to be excited and tell someone what you know. I think Woodward does a pretty good job of keeping quiet himself during these times unlike previous AD's aka "I am the search".

He let the info leak out last week regarding Oregeron's signing of his dismissal.

Calling shots of Mulkey and Jay Johnson was shot down by the masses until it was announced

Woodward will seek to plug the leak by giving different people on his staff different names of our next coach. The name that gets "leaked" identifies the leaker. So, don't put faith in any names which get "leaked" as it is just part of Woodward's master plan.

anyone think the tucker smoke is a trial balloon to gauge fan reaction?

you would hope
they're not pulling names out of thin air, as much as we distrust media and such, i dont think thats the case here.

I think the Mulky news was a result of everyone actually wanting her to be the hire. And to your point, I think it’s a strong possibility BMac may have received info from Jay Johnson‘s side.
All info that leaks out from LSU’s side is most likely connected to the BoS.

idk Tucker just doesn't make much sense for a program that needs a homerun hire to ignite an increasingly stagnant fan base. I don't think he'd have been such a public favorite right off the bat if he were the guy.
If he were the guy you keep it low and let his season play out, then you have a better sell to the fan base if he gets to 10 wins. This just allows people to pick his resume apart, build the case against him, and magnifies any loss these next few weeks

It's way to premature. If he goes 0-4 down the stretch to ranked teams there is no way Woodward will hire someone 8-4/7-5.
If he pulls off multiple upsets he will be a hot name for sure. It's all too soon right we just need to be patient.

Mulkey was looking to leave after the confrontation with Baylor President Livingstone over the new arena.
Walking in with another half million/year and living down the road from a very aged mother was a no brainer and not some great negotiation by Woodward.
Tucker is the CRT hire and to be expected even if he drops the next 5 games to finish 7 - 5.

Leaks are inevitable, but that's why you use smoke screens.
While I'm sure *some* poster here or on 24/7 is 100% dead on and will have the name before anyone else, there are also a dozen others who will claim to have the name and be wrong.
It might be a "leak", but it doesn't matter if you can't be sure of its accuracy ahead of time.

Indeed but it will be a minority hire and if people are talking buyouts for what is an average coach like Tucker then spend the big $ and go after Mike Tomlin.

this guy will have the final say

That only goes so far. You can smoke out an assistant AD or booster that way. But A whole host of secretaries, paralegals etc. are involved and you can't play games with them because they're the ones facilitating the negotiations.
