They were 2-5 at one point. Finishing 4-1 after that doesn't seem like they quit to me.

Chizik's 2012 AU team that went 0-8 in the SEC and didn't beat a P5 school on their way to a 3-9 record is what it looks like when a team quits on a coach.

So what about the previous two seasons?

He went 10-3 last year and won the Orange Bowl. By any measure (unless you are a crazy fan) that's a pretty successful season.

He has won 10 games in six of his last eight seasons. I'd be more likely to consider this season an outlier then anything else. Every so often college football teams have shitty years no matter who the coach is. This one's been Jimbo's.

Aggies are excited to get him. I wasn't exactly excited have him come to BR last year but would have picked him over O.

My friend is a huge FSU fan. She doesn't even care that he's leaving. That's pretty telling, IMO.

Some of the losses definitely shouldn't happened. They had Miami and NC State beat then literally dropped the ball on defense in the final minute

Defense really cost FSU all season

Jimbo needs a better defensive coordinator

As bad as the record was, team has played very hard since the Boston college debacle, they played Clemson hard and had the ball to tie it, blackmon just made a dumb decision and that sealed it for Clemson

Add Francois and hire a better defensive coordinator, FSU will be fine year.

I thought even last year good not great hire and that's before this season. Outside of jameis (who should have been kick d off the team-says q lot about jimbos character) Jimbo has been mediocre in a conference they should dominate. Think of all the awful qbs LSU has had and we never had a season THIS bad.

I think he's low character and I wanted a more innovative offense with Herman. With that said would I taken him over orgeron? At the time Yes. Now? I'm not sure

LSU played a Monday game after katrina with a brand new head coach and refugees on campus. Blew a huge lead and lost, turned the ship around and won 11 games after the bowl. Good coaches don't go 6-6. He's actually 5-6

Wasn’t jimbo the OC and a coach on that team....

He isn’t, aggies are just desperate after losing 7 straight to LSU so they are talking themselves into it. It’ll be an Aggie moral victory over LSU just like with Chavis (and we see how that turned out). Seems like most FSU fans want him gone.

He continues to recruit and recruit well. Frankly, I'd like to see him go, but that's because I, like many FSU fans are tired of him using other schools to get a raise here every year.

It's gotten old.

LSU felt the same way when they watched Miami lure Saban away...

You think that guy wasn't planted in the audience to intercept anybody who asked anything of relevance? Hell somebody asked about the length of our pants and Jimbo spent 10 minutes talking about knee pads. That crap was as scripted as Monday Night Raw

What is the difference between Miles's resume at LSU and Jimbo's resume at FSU?

I think it speaks more volumes at how desperate schools like TAMU is and how shitty the outlook is on great potential coaching hires. They honestly don't have a lot of hot names out there. I wonder if LSU wasn't sold on anyone when they hired O and just went cheap. Give the shrimp boat capatain in his white rubber boots a chance who did an okay job as interim and if he fails within 2-3 years, maybe you'll have someone out there who's a better hire. Just doesn't seem like they have any ripple making hires going on in NCAA. Jimbo's stock definitely shouldn't be as high as it was. You could make legit arguments Winston was what made his career as HC because outside those seasons, they've been very mediocre at FSU.

shite, I would've took him over O in a heartbeat though. At least he'd maintain elite recruiting and could even beat Saban on some recruits. He seems high risk at this point though, especially the buyout/salary he'll be demanding. But really though, do they have any other proven commodities out there you can hire? I think that's where the problem lies in NCAA right now. You're not going to get someone like Saban or Urban Meyer right now.

His QB got hurt so all those 5-Star studs on defense had to give up 36-points per game.

I think he is a good coach but to go to the SEC west will be a tough place to stay on top.

Jimbo quit on his team, he quit in all of the players he recruited and promised to prepare. I am terribly sorry he is going to be employed by anyone

Go take a look at Nick Saban's coaching record and then come tell me about good coaches not going 6-6.

People may laugh but it is just as easy to let season slip away at times. A lot of people want to bash Les Miles whenever he went 9-3 but never did he allow a full out spiral into a 6-6 year.

This year has really been a perfect example, of a lot of coaches who were highly regarded had very rough years.

Outside of an undefeated season, nothing. Which is why when people act like Jimbo is a coaching god because he won a natty I point to Larry Coker and Gene Chizik.

At least Les Miles had enough character to not get into it with his own fan base. I don't recall anyone being bullied out of Les' radio show like Jimbo's thug staff did to that guy...Jimbo seems like a low character guy. Glad he's not at LSU.

Well, your user name sugested might try to throw the skillet at him!
