Willie Taggart - WKU - Who scoops him up?

Ties to the Harbaugh coaching family. Played for Jack, coached with Jim. Currently at his alma mater, but is a rising star in the coaching world. Ball control offense, tough defense.
Is this the year he makes the jump to a bigger program?

I think so, although I'm not sure the caliber of program he could make a move to. I know he is well thought of.

By that I mean would Taggart feel the need to pull the trigger now on his future and accept a position at a career killer like Kentucky?

I think that's a valid point. How much are you going to accomplish at UK? I think a lot or promising coaches have hurt themselvs by just taking any BCS job, when you might be better off waiting for the right job.

Rich Brooks made it work at Kentucky. I think Taggart could be moderately successful there. His style of play would be different than some of his recruiting competition to the immediate north of him, helping him out. And if he could continue to pull undersized athletes from the SE(Cobb), or use the BBall success to recruit football players (Stevie Johnson went to UK because he liked the basketball team), he can make it work.

Yeah I thought about that. Kentucky strikes me as a place that a good, solid coach could wind down a career and experience moderate success, not a place where a new, hot name goes to cut his teeth.

In all seriousness, the talent on the roster right now is actually better then what we've had in several years. Whomever comes in will have a decent talent foundation to build off of and could potentially have one of those 2007-esque years at Kentucky in a couple seasons.

As far as Taggart himself, I would be surprised to see him ever go to Kentucky or to Louisville (depending on what Strong does). WKU has a pretty big inferiority complex instate and as loyal as Taggart has been to WKU I think they'd consider him leaving for one of those spots a slap in the face.
That said, he'll leave for a bigger offer out of state IMO.

True but he was kind of a retread, had won at Oregon, flamed out in the NFL, not an up and comer like Taggart. IMO a guy like Brooks or someone with baggage like Patrino makes more sense for UK.

i was impressed by him watching him on the sidelines when we played WKU last season. he even rocks the highlighter/lanyard thing a la harbaugh. would definitely be on my shortlist if i was at uk.

I can agree with that. And the thing is that current NFL talent by majority was developed under Brooks which was something that Joker really lacked. When we've been "successful" at Kentucky it's been based out of our offense. IMO that needs to be our niche (some disagree with me though).

That was when I started researching him. His team was the only one last year that came into Tiger Stadium and were not intimidated.
He also gave the blueprint on how to beat our defense.

Can he win big time football with the type of offense he likes to run?
No offense.. but if your program is in a bad enough spot that you're hiring a new coach.. you don't have the players to run the pro style offense.

I think I like you too, but I'm not a woman.
I do agree that you can have success at UK, but you can't afford ANY mistakes. You have to recruit decent EVERY year, and not make coaching mistakes, both issues led to Joker's demise.

Yes.
Actually as Belle said, I don't think he would consider UK anyway, but I could see him moving to a ACC team next. I'm not sure about the SEC.
I read somewhere that California might either fire or have Tedford retire, I could see him going there. It would put him close to Jim Harbaugh again.
