Will LSU Fans Vilify Miles the Way They Do Saban for Leaving?

It seems that if Miles leaves he will be doing so under generally the same time frame as Saban did. So, why is there all of this love for Miles right now? He is going to leave LSU during the dead period, after many "hot" coaches are locked up or locked down by contracts.
Miles won many games here, and I believe his ability to recruit and identify with players will be missed. He ran a decent and honest program, when many of his colleagues chose not too...but he is not doing LSU any favors by timing his departure this late.

Not until he becomes the Alabama coach in two years

No. We will wish he was still though and will miss all his 10+ wins a season.

No, because when Saban left everyone stil wanted him here. Miles has had his haters for several years now.

hopefully not. i would only be mad if he took a pay cut to go, would sorta be a slap in the face

saban wasn't villified until he went coach a team in the same division of the sec.

No. I will be happy for him and root for him unless he's playing LSU.

This.
Saban was not vilified for leaving. In fact he was welcomed back very warmly when the Dolphins played in Tiger Stadium.

Different situation. While many Tiger fans were disappointed that Saban left for Miami, the hatred began when he left Miami, his dream job, to coach bama.

Plenty of people hated Saban for leaving LSU that Christmas day, its a double standard

It is late in the game but I still don't think it is the same. Saban jacked us around for several weeks. Michigan's job just came open last week, and by most indications this will be wrapped up very soon if he's leaving.

because he's a lovable guy. i will always remember his good side because i like him and i very much like his class and the way he represents the university i graduated from and that i love so much.

Not me. He has a right to go, and the timing for him is great to UM, they need him now badly.
I was more PO'ed at Les for unintentionally c@ck-blocking LSU's chance to get the back-channeling Nick Saban, whom was interested in LSU in 2007, when Miles To Mich Part 1 went down.
That missed opportunity was the one that was gonna shape the SEC West for the coming decade of 2007 forward..and I and others here knew it and called it then. Had a chance to get back the #1 HC in college football, and keep him from rebuilding the SEC's historical power..
Martin, Carr, Miles, Herby, O'Keefe, Bertman, Lombardi,etc..blew it.

quote:Saban also jacked us around every offseason. his name came up with almost every job opening it seemed. Miles' name only comes up for Michigan, which makes sense. I just got sick of Saban constantly playing footsies with every AD and GM in the country. More than anything, it was fatigue.

biggest difference is no one wanted saban to leave. miles to michigan has half the fanbase ecstatic.
