I bet he would, but imagine he will want some crisp guidelines to delieate his voice as prime.

Hope it is just simply Gilbert as OC w/o and imposed "Co".

What the hell did you just type?

The title of your post makes sense but I have no idea what you are asking.

For the right money he will

Doesn’t mean it will be healthy and productive though. Makes it look like Ed is making Steve play big brother to Gilbert

Ensminger as co-OC is a narrative that is being conjurered up here on the rant. Don’t think we will have co anything.

Steve is no idiot.

Y’all act like we were a joke on offense under him last year. He’s be a positive influence on Gilbert IMO

The zero points in Tiger Stadium vs Bama are all we can recall.

Of course he would. What young coach wouldn't accept input from a veteran coach like Steve?

We were definitely a joke against decent defenses. We need a coordinator that can take pressure off of the defense. The offensive players are on scholarship as well, and they should share the responsibility of winning. The defense should not always have to play perfect to win. Hiring Ensminger is accepting the mediocrity that we have become accustomed to.

As my grandpa used to say, “Too many Chiefs. Not enough indians”...In theory, it could very possibly work as there are other teams such as Clemson that has a Co-OC system, however it leaves alot of potential for head butting and difference of philosophy. I pray for the best but with the current people in charge, I’ll reserve a gratuitous amount of skepticism and doubt. Hopefully I am wrong.

Plus he's only making 100 grand as OC at USF. Any position LSU offers comes with a huge payraise.

Co-OCs is Orgeron's way of having a say in the offense. Orgeron wants to change the offense, he just goes to Ensminger who gets it done.

But what would be Ensminger's role? He coaches tight ends. He being a co-OC just isn't logical in any way.

If you have 2, you don’t have 1.

Why do y'all think Steve is just some moron collecting a check? Dude knows football. He's been an OC before and can contribute to the game plan.

Steve isn’t a moron he’s just not a good offensive coordinator. His track record and previous history is proof. I think there’s a reason why he hasn’t been an o coordinator in a decade.

Ok, so that makes Ensminger O's proxy. He's likely to be the buffer between Orgeron's conservative, old school ideas, and Gilbert's aggressive new wave approach.

Going back to Ensminger: offensive philosophy, personality, etc. Which way do you think he will lean? Will he throw a wet blanket over things that scare/mystify O, or will he try to explain things to O to allow them to work?

Because that's the sense I get out of this- O will go for something, if Ensminger looks it over and says it's ok.

added- I mean, if O trusts Ensminger and acknowledges Steve's superior offensive acumen over his own, it makes sense to put Steve in that spot. Let him be the interpreter that Canada never got the benefit of having.

Gilbert can handle the job by himself.

Seems to me if Ensminger gets this title it's because O wants someone that he trusts dictating gameplan.

Well we were awful against anyone with a pulse.

Look Ensminger is a smart guy and a good recruiter. It’s just very troubling that Ed won’t lets this go and simply hire an OC without feeling like he has to have control with the co-OC title.
