I dont know much about him other than he coached at USC and then was hired by Bama. My question is, what makes him an OC that LSU would want? Quick research showed that his overall records aren't anything to get too excited about! Are people wanting LSU to go after him because he was associated with Bama? I dont know enough about him; can someone explain?

Yea it's real simple. He is known throughout coaching circles as a great offensive mind. You know like the reason u take your vehicle to a certain mechanic. He has a rep.

Turn that quick search into a little bit longer of a search next time

He's had some solid QB development, for one

Cause historically we aim for the fences when trying to hire Saban's staff away and end up settling.

See: missing on Kirby Smart and hiring Kevin Steele

The same reason people want Kiffin. They're much better OC's than HC's.

Quick research

Do more research before you "assume" that LSU would "go after a guy just because he's associated with bama."

Sark was an apprentice to Norm Chow... then took his place at USC... that's southern Cal... you know, a guy named Pete Carroll hired him... then they... like won... alot... produced a lot of NFL talent.... then took over as HC at Washington... you know, the program that is "all of a sudden very good" in the college football playoffs.... you think Chris Peterson just walked in and transformed the program? I don't think so... Peterson is a great great coach who inherited a very good thing from Sark....

Then Sark got drunk... alot... if he's well, then I believe he's the better option as OC... even over Kiffin. Kiffin is a total RAT. Good coach.... but Geez... the dude is drama.

His overall records at Washington and USC were very respectable considering what those programs were going through when he was hired (Washington was winless the year before he took over).

Coached Jake Locker and Keith Price, also had Chris Polk at RB who had three straight 1000 yard seasons.

The guy knows offense and would do very well here, because O will give him the reins.

He was pretty much average at UW other than he was following the worst coach in UW history.

All of his drinking problems were already surfacing at UW.

He'd miss team meetings, showed up drunk to practices, was consuming huge amounts of alcohol on recruiting trips, drunk at the end of his final apple cup, was having problems at home due to his drinking [believe the divorce wasn't final til he was down at USC] and no one up here in Seattle was at all shocked when the shite started hitting the fan at USC.

UW dodged a big bullet at the expense of USC wanting back that more of that feeling from the Good 'Ol days under Pete Carroll. Does LSU want to take that kind of chance?

Sure, Briles came from West Texas HS directly to college where only his success on the field measured the quality as a leader/head coach of a University. Certainly Briles had, at least, a lack of administrative control and more likely bad decision-making at the college level; but that can be fixed learning from one's mistakes. Very different than the powers that an addiction can hold over one throughout their life.

The thing with sark isn't about football knowledge and ability to coach offense. They just have to decide if they can trust him to show up in the box or on the sidelines and not be boiled as an owl Lol (Just heard that term used to describe otis being drunk on Andy grififth show)

Why hire a guy who cannot break the alcoholic
cycle
I don't know him or if he is drinking or not.
Not judging, just saying it is what it is..
Sark needs to help himself before coaching
anywhere
