If Coach O can get the job done this year, why are you guys holding a stat that happened years ago on him? Are you saying Coaches cant improve? If he succeeds this year, why not give him the job? He proved it in LSU, who gives a shite about stats from ole miss.

It concerns me when a rival fan base is trying to persuade us to hire a certain candidate.

You have to look at what he's done in previous HC jobs, the only experience he's had is 10-25 (3-21 in conference). That's why. Even counting the interim games he still has a losing record. Even if he won out all the way to the championship he'd STILL have a losing record.

He is a fresh coach, you cant blame him for not getting more experience. What matters is the fact that he is winning now. The momentum is on his side for the past 2 years.

Would aTm hire coach O?

Be honest.

If he went 12-2 in his last 14 games? Yes.

How many places have been interested in him as a HC since Ole Miss? He publicly stated interest in the Syracuse job last year and didn't even get an interview. Syracuse.

If LSU can be fairly good with Les Miles and Coach O, just imagine what LSU could be like under a proven head coach.

O has won 3 games against bad teams, and "bad" is probably too kind for Missouri and USM. We'll see how the season plays out for O going forward.

Jimbo Fisher has won multiple ACC titles and a NC as a head coach. He has proven far more than what O has proven at Mississippi and against Mississippi.

All I am saying is that for the "Proven" argument, O has actually gotten experience as a HC of LSU. Jimbo has too many what ifs regarding how he will deal with the admin, etc.

because it is relevant to look at coaches record. Stepping in mid season especially with a loaded roster is one thing. Running a program for long term success is very, very different.

Right now all he's had to do is game plan for 2 terrible and 1 struggling but talent teams with a terrible run defense. To get overly excited about it. Game planing and adjustments were 2 of Miles biggest weaknesses. But what people are missing is we were in the position to be where we are extremely disappointed because of the important things outside of game week and game day. Can Ed O do those things? Maybe, but the one time he did he was terrible.

No, narrow minded would be thinking that 3 wins against awful teams somehow overcomes his record as an actual head coach.

You really think we should ignore his only actual perm HC gig when comparing him to other candidates?

He won multiple games at USC and was passed over for a guy with absolutely no experience as a head coach.

And he couldn't get his own head coaching job after that. He's "proven" to be mediocre; the guys before and after him at Ole Miss were able to win games. It's not difficult to get players to go there.
