i think long-term it's super risky but it's basically mandatory for O at this point

assuming we get kiffin, LSU is basically going to have 3 HCs on staff. it's going to be interesting

LSU is obviously obligated to make a play for Kiffin since that has been so much of the rhetoric about what makes Orgeron worth gambling on.

If LSU is fortunate then Aranda does not bolt for Texas and Kiffin decides to come to LSU - and has matured enough to do well without adult supervision. The mentor role Saban has played with Kiffin is not one I can see Orgeron being able to fill - he just doesn't have the stroke or the knowledge to correct mistakes like NS could demand.

Nobody's even mentioning that his offense pretty much destroyed the USC record books. I wanna say they averaged 50 points a game.

He would have a better resume than any OC we've ever hired

We got less imaginative down the stretch with this guy.

Nobody should be upset with a Kiffin hire

I'd be excited

O ought to be able to at least keep him out of the media if that would still be necessary for a guy like Kiffin.

Issue is we lose both Aranda and Kiffin in a year.

Then what?

Saban defers to him a ton when we are on offense.

Referee asked Saban whether or not to take an offside penalty yesterday, 2nd and 2 or 1st and 5. Saban pointed at Kiffin and told the referee to ask him

If they do great jobs here, at the very least be fortunate that they both stay for 2 years.

If he comes it will probably have to be Kiffin's sudden onset of maturity that is the difference.

Orgeron so far doesn't even have his players staying off social media or avoiding pregame fights. LSU players seem to be in the same emotional place that Miami players were around 2005 when their program was fading but the players were starting pregame fights (with LSU in the bowl game).

Because Bama owns LSU and people think that anything from Bama is automatically good. What they don't realize is that in good programs, like Bama, everything flows through the head coach. LSU now had a defensive line coach in that position.

yea, it doesnt matter that he is the best playcaller in college football

I like how He takes what he has and knows how to put them in position to succeed. I thought for sure they were not going to be good on offense this year with the new QB. But He designed an offense around his QB that helped Him succeed. This is what we have been lacking here. We get all these playmakers but don't know how to use them. I believe he could Help change that here.

Would rather have Steve Sarkaisian off the Bama staff.

Sark has better record as OC and QB coach. Look at the QB Sark put into the NFL.

I remember how bad Kodi Kessler looked playing for Lane while he was the HC & OC at USC. Kiffin got fired they bring Sark back and Kessler goes on to have successfull career at USC.

Kessler as rookie has look good in his playing time for the Browns this year.

He'd be a homerun in people's eyes because it would spite Saban and Bama fans. He's not an excellent OC.

It would be nice if we conducted an actual search instead of O just calling up his buddy and offering the job. He should interview a number of candidates and make sure he gets this right.

But I'm sure just like with the HC, the "search" will be a farce.
