Is everyone assuming he’s waiting on bama?
He’s got to be the top coach on every teams wish list.
Is he just not someone that would leave where he is for LSU

He's too similar to O in that he's a ceo and recruiting coach. It's always a rule of thumb to hire your next coach that's the opposite of your last. So I think Woodward definitely is looking at a schemer

He seems like a better version of O, but one who still requires two great coordinators to succeed. I think that’s why he isn’t getting much interest here.

Guy can stay in Eugene, wrack up wins in the PAC 12, enjoy 10 win seasons, and just wait. Doesn't mean he'll get the Bama job, but it beats the hell out of contemplating the SEC every week.

Because he’s clearly the guy.

I’m convinced most people who start threads here never actually read the board first. You are definitely not the first person to bring up Mario Cristobal.

I do agree with the OP that his name doesn’t come up as much as one would think it would. Those of us coaching-search junkies have definitely seen his name, but overall he seems to have very little chatter for someone that will absolutely get a look probably

Same for Matt Campbell

And FWIW I agree with others…Cristobal is a more polished and professional version of O…recruiter, motivator, doesn’t call plays, doesn’t really have coordinator experience, CEO type coach that is dependent on good coordinators

Dude I’ve been in every thread almost, I was in a thread where it was 4 pages of everyone listing 4 names and his name wasn’t on anyone’s list.

You go to any thread where fans of other teams are talking about the future of there program and potential coaches and his name is brought up in all of them

To me mc is a better version of Dabo.

He probably wouldn’t come here but if he would I can promise you that Woodward has at least thought about him. I think he’s the next bama coach though

How is he a shite coach, have you looked at his history? He’s improved Oregon who was falling off some before he got there.

My only problem with mc is that he’s recruited VERY highly at Oregon and he hasn’t made the playoff. But I in no way think he wouldn’t be a great hire.

Except he's 10x more competent than O in every regard but good point nevertheless

His recruiting is top notch no doubt. I’m not sure if he would be any better than what we’ve had in recruiting though. He did do a pretty good job at fiu for a while and has won the pac 12 in 2019 and 2020 .

I’m not saying I want him, just saying that he’s brought up a lot around the different message boards and not as much here , that’s all.
