Cutcliffe agreed in principle last go around but Hamilton told him he could not bring his assistants. Deal fell apart. He got pissed at Tennessee. Pulled his name out of it this go around before Dooley was even fired.

He's on the back end of his career and at a place that doesn't really have much in the way of expectations. He's got a gig for as long as he wants at Duke, why would he want to drop back into the pressure cooker of the SEC?

Evidently that's not a concern anymore.

The entire 'health concern' issue with Cutcliffe is ridiculous if you ask me. Yes, he did have heart by-pass surgery which led him to resign as the quarterbacks coach under Charlie Weis at Notre Dame, but that was years ago. People have been talking about Cutcliffe's health since 1999. Just in the past month, he's stated that his health is phenomenal. It is not an issue.
