Honestly this is why I don't think Les will hire him. I think you are right, Les wants stability, solid but stable.
I remember people were clamoring for John Tenuta and were disappointed with Chavis. This is prob gonna be the same circumstance.

I think Krage would be a solid hire he is a superb Qb coach

The important parts from the article. As someone who lived in Louisville, he did have discipline problems but it is insane to think that was why he failed. You rarely heard about these problems until he got off to a bad start. And after the season this article was written, things only got worse. The important part:

What do he and you expect? You think coaches want to be assistants for the rest of their lives. Not everyone is Chavis. I'd rather be looking for a new OC in 4 years after someone kicks arse here and warrants a HC offer than a caretaker who stays here for 10 years ranking between 40th and 80th in offense, with an occasional talent-provided breakout year. Let LSU be a stepping stone for coordinators. It's usually the case when you get top coaching talent rather than slightly above average coaching talent.

Something tells me this guy would be a solid hire. Not the "WHOA" hire that everyone would hope for but I think he'll get the job done.

Didn't he have Brohm as QB? That's a lot of well coached experience returning to run the offense. I'm not anti Krag, I'm just gonna ignore the Louisville stint altogether.

Can people stop acting like they know these guys better than Miles? Do you think Miles is going to hire one guy if he thinks another one that he interviewed is better? Can we assume for just a minute that Miles knows what he is looking for better than we do and that he will understand the credentials and circumstances of past performances better than the people on this board? And one more thing is it too much to ask of the "experts" on this board to not trash the new hire until after whoever it is has failed. And speaking of Kragthrope, I remember just a few short years ago when people on this board thought that Kragthrope would be a great replacement for Miles as the HC. If I remember, the situation at Louisville was that he was following Patrino and he lot some key players who had character issues and grade issues. As far as his personal life, I have know first hand knowledge of that or how it affects him day to day.

just reviewing his profile, his Tulse and Louisville teams dont seem to be very good. Maybe he is a great offinsice mind, but never had the players to pull it off (Chizik at Iowa State sucked bad !)

young talent often brings innovation and excitement- they normally are short on maturity and wisdom- Older mature coaches may get set in their ways but have a logical thought process

Anyone know where UL ranked in offense the next two years Kragthorpe was there?

Just checked other stats. UL averaged about 36 points a game in Krag's first year at UL. They averaged just over 25 the next year. They averaged about 18 his third year.

And you can't blame that regression on kicking a few guys off the team. I really wonder if Miles will put personal relationship-oriented factors ahead of due diligence-related factors such as this blaring statistic.
Did he investigate Crowton's regression back when?
I am concerned. Betweeen his family issues and this trend, and the fact that over a substantial amount of time the most wins he has been a part of in OC or HC capacity is a 9 win season and that only occurred once.
There must be something we are missing to warrant Miles' (reportedly) high interest in this guy. It seems it has to be relationship/rapport factors, but that crap doesn't do much for play scheming/calling.
Someone make me feel good about this guy BASED O FACTS, not on emotions or dataless hunches.
