So to this point nobody has defended his face plant this year. Pre-season #7 to a 6-5 record. Is thems just the breaks at Iowa State?

By the Matt Campbell standard, Mark Stoops should be much higher on this boards list. Dude it's Kentucky! Why does everybody hate Stoops?

So yall are willing to accept a coach floating .500 because Iowa State is historically shitty. A caterpillar can barely play limbo under that low bar.
Campbell's tenure has been the best era of Iowa State football since before World War I. Ohio State hired Earle Bruce from there without accomplishing as much.
You'd have to be willfully ignorant of college football to call Campbell's record mediocre, relative to where he is coaching.

For the exact same reason Matt Rhule was a great candidate when he went to Baylor. Bringing TEMPLE to 11 wins is insane.
I'd argue that Campbell has done an impossible job there.

Both the Jets and the Lions have tried to hire him.
Are you saying NFL teams want trash coaches?
Or would you concede that they see something you don't and maybe they know more than you?

Looks like we got Les Styles and the boatcaptain fans all in on Matt Campbell. Haven't we learned anything from the last two guys they supported?

He is a garbage coach with a mediocre track record. What a terrible hite that would be

They lost by 10 to Iowa and have gone 4-4 in conference, with all 4 losses coming on the road and by 7 points or less. I don't see any red flags. The better question, considering it's Iowa State we're talking about, might be: "how did he go 9-3 the year before with basically the same roster?"

I mean shite, Gene Chizik won 3 games at ISU and they gave him the Auburn job.
You would think those tards would have a memory as to just how much of a massive fail that was.

Dude it's Iowa State. To put this in perspective, Iowa State had a running back named Troy Davis who was the Heisman runner-up in 1996 narrowly losing to Danny Wuerffuel. Iowa State's record that year, 2-9.

Hopefully Woodrow isn't stupid enough to hire a mediocre coach like Campbell or Mark Stoops.

He is the winningest coach at ISU since 1919
He has brought ISU from a recruiting ranks in the 60's into the 40's (actually sitting at #23 for 2022) all while being in the middle of Big10 country and 120 miles from University of Iowa.
2016 was his first season at ISU and they ranked #102 in Total Defense. Since then they havnt been ranked lower than #45
Since Hiring Tom Manning back in 2019 as OC they have raned #27, #34 and #49 in Total Offense. (#60, #86, #95 before Tom Manning)

so because sports media rankings were wrong he's not a good coach? Their worst loses this year was by 10 to Iowa every other game was by 1 score, including on a 62 yard FG to TT. 3 of their loses were on the road, I don't follow Iowa State so i have no idea if they had injuries or just bad luck. They are also the only team to beat OK State.
The problem is you are using the standard you'd use for LSU and applying it to Iowa State. 7-5 LSU is a disaster at Iowa State is good. They are one of the lowest resource programs in the P5 and he has the #3 class in the Big XII lined up.

Iowa State as a program has never won 10 games, ever. They've only EVER won 9 games twice, once with Campbell and the other was in 1906.
Historically, Kansas is a better football program than Iowa State.

His offensive coordinator Tom Manning has been nominated for the Broyles Award twice since 2019.

ISU beat Texas by 30.
Texas beat ULL by 20.
Texas beat TCU by 5.
TCU beat Baylor by 2.
Baylor beat ISU by 2.
Teams lose. Happens every year. Nobody is 150-0.
Is your team playing hard, smart and maximizing potential? That’s the question.
Campbell has proven that for a decade.. and is still only 41.

demanding we hire Mark Mangino. Quite possibly the greatest coach of all time.
He honestly may be the best coach to receive zero recognition and the fact that no one will re hire the guy is kinda crazy

Just in case it hasn't been said already, .....Because it's Iowa State.
