I always heard it was due to number of allowed coaches on roster.

So if we promote SE to replace Canada and bring in a Co OC. Where does the extra coaching spot come from? Seems like going that route guarantees no ST coach again next year. Special teams contributed to half of our losses.

Plus who will coach QBs? You can't tell me the solution to our QB problems have been a coach on the roster all along.

Is it really going to take 3 coaches to replace Canada?

Pete Jenkins retired so that opened up another coaching spot

So then if we go the Co OC route is seals the deal for no ST coach and we will also not have a QB coach.

Holy frick we are stupid

Can't believe it's going to be that flunky McMahon who killed the Saints ST for years. Dude sucks. I mean like Peveto level suckage.

Canada replacement is new co oc or whatever. We get to add a 10th asst this week. That will be st coach. We can also replace Pete Jenkins. Sounds like we will replace him with a safeties coach.
Not many teams have a dedicated st coach. Most kickers are not coached by someone on staff. An outside consultant etc.

Did you actually just make a critical post, and then admit you had no idea how any of it works?

Classic!

We will have a st coach when the 10asst is added. One of the co oc if we go that route will be qb coach

We currently have 3 openings. Last year was 9 coach cap. This year is 10. Canada and Jenkins leaving means 2 openings + the newly added spot. I promise you 1 of them will be a ST coach.

Ask Wade Richey and any kicker on the roster from 1996 to 1999 if kicking at trash cans in practice did them any good. Not having someone make sure they are practicing correctly matters.

Still no ST coach and still no QB coach anyway it's spun in that scenario.

ok then so do we have a water boy coach or something?

500 other teams have full coaching staffs and special teams coaches yet everyones excuse why LSU doesnt have one is "wait until we are allowed 10 coaches??????????????

i am just looking for a plain simple understanding of the reason we dont have a ST coach and who used up the coaching spot the ST coach would have had

my neighbor refuses to believe we didnt have one so im trying to explain to him "why" and "how" we dont

No, they don’t. ST is handled by one or more coaches with other responsibilities at virtually all schools.

ETA: you and your neighbor are idiots

The 10th coach for all teams was supposed to approved before the season by the NCAA hence why LSU hires McMahn.

However they didn’t implement it quickly enough so it was rolled back to the 18-19 season to take effect.

Rather than demote one of the other 9 on field assistants to have a full time ST coach, O decided to make McMahn a consultant and distribute he’s responsibilities amongst the other 9 until he could be a full time, on field assistant this coming season

Co-OC Ensminger will be the QB Coach. Co-OC Sullivan will be the WR Coach. (MJ gone)

"OES" have all been around long enough to full well know you can't win the SEC playing "Ancient" offensive football. Have to modernize.

Sullivan coaching WR's will definitely be an upgrade, but not so much with E coaching QB's.

Apparently McMahon will still be Shadow ST's.
