Alleva isn't making this call. He was a lazy AD who would rather just hire the "popular" easy choice than get into tough negotiations and courting of coaches in high demand. That's how LSU ended up with Johnny Jones and Ed Orgeron. Those guys had ZERO market demand and could be hired without much effort (hell, they may have even paid LSU to be the HC).
It very well could be LSU tries desperately to hire a big name guy and gets turned down (as we've seen with schools like Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn). But, if nothing else, I expect Woodward will make every effort to make a big hire as opposed to Alleva who would just hire the guy who most desperately wanted the job as opposed to who might be the best HC

I think most fans like him, but view him more as a Plan B/C guy.

Butch Jones handed him his arse in coaching with a 1-5 team last night??? Yeah USL won but The Who the better coach was was OBVIOUS.
