Why Charlie Strong would be your best hire...

if Miles leaves.
Charlie Strong showed immediate success at Louisville when he walked into a disaster. He has one of the top assistant coaching staff's in the country, and they all recruit lights out. He took the BEST assistants off of UF's staff from our NC run in '08.
Mike Sanford is his OC who was Urban's OC at Utah. He's a very aggressive play caller and adjusts his scheme to his team's strengths. BG would stay on board with LSU because he coached with all of those UF assistants I'm speaking of. You would not only have a young staff, but you would have a staff that would dominate on the recruiting trail and a staff that would relate very easily to the players. Sanford is one of the top offensive minds in CFB and Strong is one of the top defensive minds in CFB. A combination like that at LSU would be scary. Keep in mind how many guys Louisville has plucked from S. Fl. LSU could have S. Fl talent with talent that they pluck from Texas, Louisiana and the rest of the SE. Charlie Strong and his staff at LSU would scare the hell out of me.

I wouldn't mind Strong at all. He'd be a pretty solid hire.

I like Charlie Strong and he is a great defensive mind. I'm not sure he has proven enough to be our HC yet though...
If we're going for a defensive guy, it needs to be a proven guy like Patterson.

Would he be a better hire than Muschamp?

That hire could get me very excited

I think they're on par with each other. Both are amazing recruiters and chose to surround themselves with a top flight coaching staff. Both are defensive minded which I like better in the SEC than offensive minded. Strong was my 1st choice to come back to UF when I didn't know Muschamp was an option. I like them equally.

LSU won't go after Strong. Regardless of his resume, there's one big reason they won't go after him. I wouldn't mind having Strong, but I ain't gonna happen.

I would be down for that. Great energy, recruiting prowess, and specializes in defense.

Its pretty damn obvious what the reason is. Its sad and pathetic, but its the damn truth.

we could also keep the "damn Strong football team" meme.
