Why are we holding out to see what Kiffin "might" do?

This is just stupid. There are a number of other great coordinators who would jump at the opportunity to coach our athletes. We're putting our eggs in the Kiffin basket, meanwhile he's not shy about wanting a HC gig. We're basically his fall back option. Even if we got him, he'd be here a year and we're in the same boat next year. I also don't think O has the ability to reign in Kiffin the way Saban has done.
Holding out for Kiffin could end up biting us in the arse and we won't end up with a top notch OC.

Because your head coach, athletic director and president are incompetent.

This is a new idea that has not been discussed in numerous other threads.

At least interview some others. Let's see what Canada, Gilbert, or either briles have to say. Eaux supposedly wowed the admins with tBinder and in his meetings. Why can't that happen again?

I guess it's a good thing I brought it up then.
Posted on 12/9/16 at 10:52 am to White Goodman
I thought the same thing
Posted on 12/9/16 at 10:53 am to White Goodman
Bc our head coach, AD, and university president are complete morons who all have their heads up their asses 24/7.

Agree. Probably after the college jobs are filled, we will have to wait for all the Pro OC jobs to get filled. I wish Orgeron would hire Canada right now and get him on campus.
Posted on 12/9/16 at 10:55 am to White Goodman
Y'all really should tell him no and get someone who wants the job. What could go wrong?

It does make us look like a second-tier school, and it shows that Kiffin doesn't really want to be here, coaching under his old employee. Must be nice to have multi-million dollar jobs waiting on you.

Because it's the only big name willing to hitch their wagon to O. No up and coming OC wants to be tied to Orgeron.
Believe it or not, coaches aren't lining up to be part of his staff. For the record, I'm not a fan of Kiffin.

It's shocking that they can't think even slightly outside the box. They whiffed on the two coaches they wanted, so they panic and hire O.
They are going to do the same thing with Kiffin. There are dozens of OCs that would be a good hire, to focus on one guy is ridiculous.
Hell, call up Bob Stitt at Montana, just do ANYTHING other than focus on 1-2 ppl.

Helfrich reached out to LSU directly.

Dude STFU with total bullshite that has zero basis whatsoever. Even Helfrich has been reported to have reached out to us, not the other way around.

It bears repeating. This is one of those things that interim coaching doesn't prepare you for. You think Meyer or Saban is waiting on an OC? This isn't how you run a major college football program.
LSU has options, they don't have to conduct their coaching search as if they don't.

At least interview some others. Let's see what Canada, Gilbert, or either briles have to say.
Exactly this. Bring in some of the top guys and ask them what they would do to fix our offense. Ask them what type of offense they think can succeed in the SEC West and what type of players are needed. Ask them what they would do with the current roster. Ask them how they would beat bama.
What would this hurt? They could interview one of these guys and be absolutely blown away by that coach's vision. They could get some ideas as to how some of the best offensive minds in the country would approach things.
Instead they're doing nothing. Just sitting on their hands waiting to see if Kiffin might come. Meanwhile Kiffin is trying to get every HC position that comes up.
It's like a kid in high school turning down sevens and eights because he's hoping some dime piece will break up with her boyfriend. Except in this case, I don't know if Kiffin is a dime piece. Is he really the best OC in the country?

We have an incompetent coach and administration. Why are you surprised?

Someone gets it. This competence stuff is way overrated.

But posting on tRant gives you this divine knowledge of how to run a program. You've convinced me. O is clueless and the average ranter could do better.

Weren't people complaining because we didn't wait to see what Herman was going to do?
Now there are complaints that we are waiting to see what one of the leading candidates is going to do?
