Why are the pro-O people not wanting to keep Ensminger?

I see posters all the time saying "All we need is to keep O and hire a great OC"
Using the same rationale as for keeping O, shouldn't Ensminger also be retained?

Ensminger most likely doesn't want that gig. I could be wrong but I think he likes the TE coach and BBQ pit master lifestyle better.

I don't see the offense being much different. I think the difference is one, we have a better qb, and two playing weaker defenses. AU and Wisconsin have two of the better defenses in the country.
We are about to face the best defense. I'll be surprised if l.f. runs for 280 yard and has three runs over 75 yards against them.
I'm not trying to defend miles. I'm just calling it as I see it. Our best offense the last three games has been running the ball with guice and l.f., same as it was before. D.E. completes balls at a higher % than harris, he is able to throw to his second option more, and takes less sacks. these three things keeps the chains moving more. Our defense has done a better job of getting off the field which helps the offense as well.

You're right. Ensminger deserves as much credit as anyone. If one thinks Coach O deserves to be the headcoach, then surely Ensminger deserves to be the oc.

Anyone that wants to keep Coach O but hire a new OC is being hypocritical. How can someone give Coach O credit for the turn around when O doesn't game plan the defense nor the offense. "Look at those halftime adjustments", once again, none of those are done by Coach O. Three weeks with a new offensive record of some type in each game, that's not Coach O, that's the offensive coaching staff. If you think we can do better for an offensive coordinator, you also have to feel that we can do better with the head coach.

If we keep this up, I'm all for keeping Ensminger.

only negative - could have cost us the game - the last two minutes of first half - should not have attempted pass with 8 point lead & that deep in our territory. almost cost us our qb , lost momentum. not good football!

Exactly, not the time to get cute. Stay with what has been working. Run Fournette down their throats!!

quote:This is also hypocritical. Playing agressive and unpredictable is what has helped us in our resurgence. Sometimes with this, negative plays happen. But the good far outweighs the bad

Its called a two minute drill chief. You put the pedal to the medal and go score. Its what we have been killing Miles for not doing for years.

But this goes against what we were doing. First, we let 40 seconds or so run off the clock before the punt without calling a time out. So, it appeared we were trying to get to halftime. Then, there wasn't two minutes on the clock. There was 1:18. And we were deep in our own territory. Inside the 15. There are times to run a two minute drill, and steps you take to give yourself them best option to execute. We did none of that, and the situation was a poor one to consider it at that point in the game.

silly to say just because some think O should get the job that he has to keep steve.
He promoted steve because he wanted cam fired. O wants to change the O to circa usc 01-05. he isn't going to keep steve. Its a stop gap and looks like a smart one.
