Its ASU. It’s not like the pool to pull from was that deep.

Herm is a first class motivator of men and I actually think college is the best place for his talents.

Recruiting may or may not be an issue...but it’s not like elite coaches were lining up to take the job and they pushed them away for Edwards.

Wide recievers coach in the late 80s for 2 years then no other college experience. No recruiting background or anything.

Hasn't coached period in 10 years.

You don't think people are right to shite on the hire?

Who were they gunna get?

An assistant?

It’s an interesting hire and it’s a splashy one compared to what they could’ve done by playing it safe.

Safe got them Todd Graham.

I saw someone on here mention last night that this is a Orgeron hire, in that ASU would be hiring a figure head as the HC, and keep strong coordinators around him for support.

That's the most plausible scenario to explain this hire.

I still say that if this fails, then Anderson's head is on the block, as this is his Waterloo.

I hope I'm wrong, and that Herm can elevate the ASU program...but I'm skeptical of that.

he likes to hear himself talk. I have watched a few of t he HS allstar practices where he has been a coach and he was non stop talking. Nice guy but had to turn the channel as his babbling got on my last nerve.

This is a CEO / charismatic high-profile face of the program hire, which may work out well -- IF he assembles a solid, good-fit, CFB-expeienced staff with good recruiting ties and chops.

Has no recruiting experience.

Hasn’t coached in College since the 80s.

Hasn’t coached in the NFL in about a decade.

Has a losing record as an NFL head coach.

Gee I wonder why people are shitting on it

Are we talking about Gruden?

And yet Gruden would be a slam dunk.

No doubt a Tennessee fan we are dealing with

I think Herm could do a fantastic job with young guys from a formative and growth as a person standpoint. I can't think of many guys who would be a better "father figure type " in all of cfb that moms would entrust their kids with. Not sure how he's going to adapt to the college game though. Actually a pretty interesting hire if a bit random.

Yeah, he’s kinda weird too. I can’t ever tell if he’s drunk or just crazy.

According solely to Tennessee fans.

Quite literally everyone else said that would be a disaster.

Most people don't think he would be good and no one said that in this thread so you're arguing against nothing.

Not sure about his coaching ability but I guarantee he won’t take any off the field crap from his players

Will be a disciplined tight run ship. Whether that’ll translate to winning on the field who knows
