Memphis fans 100% wanted to fire Silverfield. They are celebrating today.
I’m really surprised Arkansas made this hire. Why not look at Glenn Schumann ahead of Silverfield? I would 1000% promote Petrino over him, and I’ve hated ole Bobby P for years. Just wow.
I’m not even making fun. I’m legitimately sorry for you guys, Hog fans. You deserve better than this.

Silver field is an excellent hire. Are you just mad you didn’t get Golesh?

After Fuente and Norvell failing in the ACC I'm not convinced Memphis is a good farm school for coaches. I know each coach is different but sometimes the program makes coaches more than the other way around and if a lower school is having success (as much as a G5 school can consistently have) from coach to coach and those coaches keep failing when they get elevated, just a pattern I notice.
It has nothing to do with the program they come from, especially now. It has to do with the individual coach’s ability to scale up what they do to a much higher level. No G5 can prepare a coach to move to the P4 unless they already have a lot of experience there.
Fuente tried to act like he was still at Memphis and didn’t put nearly enough into staff and recruiting.
Norvell has obviously been very hot and cold, but he made the same mistake of taking too much of his G5 staff along before figuring out they weren’t ready. And while he was a very good recruiter on the G5 level at Memphis, he never put everything into it at FSU and has fallen back on living in the portal. And he’s now the poster child for the dangers of that.
As for Silverfield, he didn’t accomplish 1/4 of what Fuente and Norvell did at Memphis. He got by on talent and then have better resources than most of the G5.

I'm not sure. Silverfield beat Golesh's USF teams three years in a row and he has some decent wins. He had a couple of bad losses this season (UAB for one) but he's had solid years at Memphis.
Golesh had a 3 score lead in the second half and made every wrong decision possible to let Memphis back in it. It was mind-boggling. It was brilliant head coaching all around in that one.

I love it. He's awful and will keep the program in the basement and lead to what we need, wholesale change.

They should’ve locked down Eric Morris early to get a head start on righting the ship vs. their peers in the conference

Memphis fans are dumbasses
Memphis puts way more resources into their athletics than the teams they’re competing with. They would be playoff mainstays with a good coach.
Also, with how you’ve acted during the LSU search you shouldn’t be calling anyone else a dumbass.

These coaching options are not good. Thankfully we got Kiffin.

Memphis fans Celebrating a coach leaving going 50-25 who ieaving over 6 years is being dumbasses and being concerned about LSU paying Kirby Smart money for a coach thats won only 2 CUSA titles is reasonable.

Sweet melt. None of it makes Silverfield a good coach

No melt here, but Silverfield has proven at Memphis he can build rosters in the portal era and develop QBs. I don't know if he'll succeed at Arkansas but I'm hopeful he'll do well.
