Very small sample size of head coaching. Additionally, he doesn’t stay anywhere very long. That is ominous to me.

James Franklin is a close second. He has hit his ceiling. He has not been very consistent and his best years were with Moorehead. I do not believe Franklin would do well here at all.

I think worst case scenario has to be Jimbo or Dabo. I’m not saying hiring them would be worst case scenario, but those are the 2 I could see coming over for $100+ Million guaranteed who fail. Maybe Jimbo‘s offense continues to lag and he starts to mail it in like at Florida State. Or Dabo comes and can’t recreate the Clemson magic and fails his coordinator hires instead to f finding Venerables.


With these two you could be stuck in late Miles mediocrity without being able to move on for years. Other coaches could fail worse, Napier, Aranda, etc., but LSU could cut bait once it’s clear they’re not going to work out. I wouldn’t be upset to get Dabo or Jimbo because they both could deliver multiple NCs at LSU if they work out, but then failing has to be the worst case scenario.

I don’t count Dabo either, he’s not coming and won’t be asked

Oh yeah, I don’t believe either are coming. Of the realistic options it’s probably Tucker because he’s unproven and would probably cost the most given his salary.
