Who would be opposed to someone like Russ Callaway coming back to be OC?
Posted by LSUJD_04 on 12/3/21 at 8:29 pm445
He’s young, had both college and NFL experience, has called plays as an OC unlike Peetz and he’s used to working with the quarterbacks too. We all talk about finding the next Joe Brady, Russ checks a lot of boxes. The question will be of CBK will want a more seasoned guy or if he wants another young guy like he had with Rees at ND.
It’s cool to downvote it but the guy is well thought of and he’s got experience in my oriole roles. If not OC I would love getting him back on staff in some capacity. He’s an up and comer for sure.
Problem with an NFL guy is you can't get him until Jan. 10. Unless the Giants would be willing to cut him loose early, which given how rough a year they've had maybe they'd do.
But if he's going to wait on an offensive coordinator I would expect he'd go grab Mike Denbrock from Cincinnati, who he's known forever and worked with before.
More likely than that is he'll throw the bank at Jeff Lebby. Ole Miss' offense is actually pretty similar to what Kelly ran at Notre Dame when Book was his QB, other than that Notre Dame used the tight end more than Ole Miss does.

He should’ve been the hire last year.
Orgeron should’ve hired him and convinced Ensminger to stick around for one last year to groom him.

Me. Tired of the fricking experimental coaches on our coaching staff who are in major roles. Hire someone proven. Go prove yourself at Southeastern then a mid major then LSU

From the downvotes I’d say everybody

I’m gonna trust the guy who’s won more games than anyone else coaching right now
I’ll bet he can hire a decent staff

I doubt Kelly would go that route but unlike O I trust his hires

Same. First time since Saban was here that I have complete trust in the coach. Just excited to see who he brings in but absolutely no angst about it. Feels good to know we have such an accomplished coach

One of the big local guys did a nice piece on him after 2019 and some guys have convinced themselves he’s Sean McVay 2.0. Did the same with Jorge Munoz
Meanwhile Joe Brady has had a rough year with Darnold and Cam to work with and people have already decided he had nothing to do with that 2019 run
