re: Who thinks LSU is getting played?

I dont think Lane comes to LSU, but I don’t think that means LSU is getting played.

My hope is that LSU is pursuing Lane bc he is a great coach but that they understand the situation and the likelihood is Lane stays at Ole Miss at least thru the playoff and that doesn’t fit LSU’s schedule. In which case, LSU pivots quickly to another quality candidate like Dillingham, Key, or Golesh.

Exactly which is why I asked if it was signed "done".

The actual Employment Agreement between LSU and the new coach will take some time to be fleshed out. The various drafts will pass between the drafting attorneys for LSU and the new coach's attorneys until both parties agree on the finalized terms, conditions and clauses. What will be signed upon announcement or shortly thereafter is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will state the terms and basic conditions of the impending Employment Agreement. Please note that the MOU will witness the parties intention, but is not a legally enforceable contract.

As an example:

Brian Kelly signed his two page Memorandum of Understanding on November 30, 2021.

Brian Kelly signed the actual 23 page Employment Agreement on April 6, 2022.

The Board of Supervisors approved the Employment Agreement on April 12, 2022 and empowered President Tate to sign on LSU's behalf. Tate signed on that day.
