re: Who does Tulane get for a football coach?

Monken would be a great hire. Haywood would not. People complain about Leach's baggage, but Haywood has just as much, plus he won't be interesting. Leach would at least put butts in the seats which should frankly be Tulane's #1 concern - they'd be better of going 6-6 with an interesting team than 8-4 with a boring team.
I'm worried they're going to hire that Saints wide receivers assistant because the Greenies seem like the kind of people who would be wowed by "NFL experience" and think they'd get some kind of carryover goodwill from the Saints. Gunning for the kinds of people who don't actually like football but wear a Drew Brees jersey because it's the in thing to do in the Uptown yuppie expat set.

I doubt that the average Saints fan even knows who Curtis Johnson is. I dont see Tulane hiring him anyway.

Curtis Johnson (Saints WR Coach) was the Miami assistant that kept getting New Orleans kids to go to Miami. And being that he's coached on the pro level, it's proven that he's more than just a recruiter. Would he be a good head coach, I have no clue, but his recruiting prowess, especially in New Orleans would be the leading factor, not that he coached for the Saints.
Like I said previously, he is the original Frank Wilson.

And then God help them if they try to install the Sean Payton offense with some 2* QB.

Would be a nice hire.
What's are the odds we could get Johnson to come down for an OC position so he can recruit Nola?

Everything I've ever heard or read about this guy is great. Not sure if he's ready for a head coaching job or not yet.
Could be Turner Gill at Buffalo...or could be Larry Porter at Memphis.

Just hard from an insider at Tulane that they offered RR 10 million for 5 years for what its worth.
Posted on 11/22/11 at 2:04 pm to Roach
That was confirmed by a national site today. Tulane offered 2 million for 5 years. Arizona offered 1.45 in year 1. It goes up to 1.85 by year 5.

Some guy on a Tulane forum is reporting that Tulane will announce a coach on December 1st and that it will be Mike Leach. Same guy reported at noon yesterday that he was 100% sure RR was taking the Arizona job. So take it FWIW.

You really asking for a link to a rumor on a message board?
It's on Gotula.net shouldnt be hard to find.
I'm not saying I believe this guy, it's just more speculation like we've been hearing for the last month.

The guy was the first that I saw to post the RR to Zona stuff.
But, I'll believe it when I see it. I still think it will be a tier 2 (for Tulane) type of guy.

Tulane IS going after leach. And rightfully so, we need him. But if that doesn't work out, Monken is my next choice

Todd Monken pulled his name from consideration. Word is Tulane wanted him to leave before the bowl game and he wasnt willing to do that.

Not the case. He was told that he was not going to get the job and wanted to put to the press that he took his name out of the running and did not get passed over. Good move by him, imho.
Tulane has their man ...

Spill the beans bra. Anything you post here isn't going to effect any deal.
