if we could hire malzhan and then ensure a cam newton or tim tebow every year, i'd be all for it!!!!!

if EVERYONE committed to his offense, i could see big things at LSU. i just don't see it working with miles
That's part of the reason I said no thanks. we have to pick one style and perfect it. And then the other part is just a theory of mine that would probably cause this thread to spiral off topic.

right now i'm confused with miles
2005-2007 he wanted a big-back, i-form pro offense, no matter what
now he seems committed to the spread option and thinks we HAVE to have a mobile QB. that's why he refused to play lee early on
but then it seems like he wants to run the spread option, but as the old grind-it-out offense. he limits our attempts at big plays, even when those big plays are the only thing we had this year. also JJ played well when we said "frick it let's sling it deep"
it's just so confusing. i don't know what he wants, and i'm wondering if he even knows what he wants

I havent read all 10 pages but in my head the job is Billy Gonzales' to lose...I always thought that was basically the reason he made the switch from Florida in the first place

billy G makes no sense as a coach (he makes a lot of sense as a recruiter)
1. he was the WR coach on an option-running team. he's a glorified RB/wingback coach
2. we don't have the personnel to run that UF/MSU option offense, even though we try and try
3. our WRs did not improve this year, and may have regressed. they still dropped balls, and it seemed they couldn't separate for shite (dont' know how much of that was the D knowing which play we'd run)

Yeah but at some point in his career a Wr/RB coach wants to turn into an OC. BG thought he had that opportunity until Meyer hired Addazio and BG had that bitter depart from Florida. He then saw Crowton on his way out at LSU and jumped on board thinking he was next in line.

I like Mike Leach. His esoteric schemes would work perfectly with this team.

Anyone that does NOT have the read option in their play-book. I hate that frickin' play.

damn near everybody has some zone read play in their playbook, even if that use it really sparingly. used correctly, I still like it.

What's Jeff Jagodzinski up to?
Posted on 11/28/10 at 12:35 pm to SPEEDY
HC of a UFL franchise I believe.

That gig shouldn't last long

i just can't see him coming to college as an OC

Crowton will be back next year, unless he gets hired as a Head Coach.
We will light up some overrated team in a bowl, and everyone will be back to loving "The Wizard"

although everyone else thinks its unforivable that our yards per game isn't very good, without even understanding that no one will put up great yards with returners that will bring it to the 40 almost everytime (peterson and trindon) or the fact that the defense is GREAT and creating a shorter field for us.
the inability to get in the endzone even with the good field position is why Crowton must go. I guess you've already forgotten about the good field position we had in the Auburn and Arkansas games. How many points did we score on Auburn? Bama scored 24 in the first half. How many field goals did we kick yesterday vs Arky? If we are ever going to win a championship, it's gonna be without Crowton.

The up & down love is with Miles.
The hate for Crowton has been pretty consistent.

I like the energy of Dana.

belowpar had mentioned that Kragthorpe was a potential candidate...Kragthorpe's name was recently mentioned in conjunction with the UConn opening...

what about Gus Malzahn as Head Coach in Waiting?
Posted on 1/11/11 at 3:23 pm to Chicken
I am sure Auburn would trump anything that we offered him. I really want to see LSU go back to more of a pro style attack. Not sure who best fits the profile. I like your suggestion of the TCU co OC.
