Is Coach O the Obamacare ('member Pelosi saying we needed to pass it to find what's in it) of coaches? Do we need to experience the man as a full time coach ourselves before we can comment positively or negatively about him?

This argument is so ridiculous
A guy's resume isn't ridiculous - unless it's ridiculous.

How do you not get this?

Resumes can be over-qualified or under-qualified. If you refuse to see which one Coach O is in relation to LSU, that's on you. Argue to your hearts content.

How about the arrogance of O? Why did he never take a lesser job to show this improvement? Instead he pouts and quits when USC doesn't hire him

Or maybe no one else wanted him, like Syracuse last year

Honestly this is the best indication that he hasn't really changed, and will be a disaster as LSU head coach.

This argument - like almost every one posited by Prom the Apologist in the last half decade - doesn't withstand scrutiny.

First it applies to every coach. Mike Archer has been a coordinator the last couple of decades. AND he's had nearly 25 years to improve, not just ten! WE should have checked him out.

Second, it doesnt account for Os own failure to improve in the past. His third year at OM was worse than his first. Why didn't he improve then?

Third, it never accounts for magnitude. Even if he improved, by how much? Did he really go from 3-21 to an SECC caliber coach? He lost to the two best teams he faced this season.

The automatic improvement argument is stupid.

BUT HE SAID HE IDENTIFIED HIS MISTAKES!!!YAW YAW YAW!

There is a massive difference between identifying mistakes and being able to correct them. It usually doesn't happen in high ego individuals. It's the main difference between a coach like Saban and a coach like Miles. I don't think O has the capacity to fix his mistakes even if he could identify them. He will always regress to his mean.

I couldn't do the high jump in middle school track

15 years later, I realize it's because I wasn't athletic enough

I still can't do the high jump

If you think he meta morphed from 3-21 in conference play into a national championship caliber coach then you are a fool.

There is a very, very, very short list of coaches that have been fired from the head coaching position at a major school and bounced back to be successful at another.

Has nobody questioned why all the team he coached under since then failed? Their coach was fired?

I think he should get a shot, but on a very short leash. No excuses, 2 years to show improvement or give him the hook.
