Don’t get it either. Built the program to championship caliber, 2 NC, although easy regular season schedule he has beaten ND and BAMA and OSU 2x in CFP, excellent recruiter, hires good assistants, manages a major program with little “issues”. As to why he would leave maybe likes more money, thought of competing in SEC, good time to leave Clemson with buyout dropping to 3 mill after last year, feels under appreciated given down year, familiar with LSU with son graduating from here, easier recruiting area….pretty much same reasons people give for Riley wanting to maybe leave OU. Saw where his OC is possibly interviewing at TCU. Just maybe at 51 he thinks he wants a new challenge. His name didn’t pop up right away as someone I thought of when O was canned but would not be one bit disappointed if he was the hire.

J, people always want to go the opposite of who just left
I would prefer not to hire Dabo because I think his schtick would grow really old really fast. I think he’s do awesome here because he’s an excellent coach but i just don’t really like the dude.

Google Dabo Swinney
Go to his wiki page
Dabo has a son that went to LSU. Alex Seymour.

Why did two posters in a row put the quote below their response?

Yeah?
Well I’m a well-connected 3-star General at the Pentagon. And you know as much about the LSU coaching search as I do.

I’m confused, I thought both his boys went to Clemson?

Dabo’s sons are Will, Clay, and Drew. Two are playing for Clemson and the other one is still in high school.
That’s what you get for getting information off of Wikipedia.

If I'm making the plausible argument, similar to OU and Riley - go to a place where you won't be limited in the conference expansion landscape. If Clemson isn't invited, they become a tier 2 school, and if they are invited they're no longer on a gravy train to 11-1 and 12-0 seasons when pitted against a handful of schools with greater inherent resources. This isn't USC circa 2005 that was a top 5 caliber program in terms of resources also located in an easier conference; this is Clemson. He has taken them to a level they won't ever reach again when he is gone.

All this double-nought spy speak bullshite. Just spit it out if you allegedly know something.

Only 51 … He might win a couple of rings at LSU assuming he did not bolt to AL in a couple years when Saban retired.
Woodward would need a $100 million penalty clause in his contract if he left for an SEC school.

Bullshite - you spy on everybody and already hacked Woodward’s computer and are listening to his phone calls. Who is it?

Why on earth would he make that move? I have no idea
Maybe because the ACC isn’t keeping up with the SEC or the B1G and he sees opportunity at a program that is primed for success.
I’d want Venables as a package deal with him though. Venables is the only thing giving them a chance in their games this season.

Understand what you are saying but he was the OC at Clemson the year he became the interim HC was he not? Small sample size with only 1 year I know but still. And his CEO model was much more successful and sustained than many many others. He built that program into the caliber it is. Wasn’t a bottom feeder but last NC was the year AFTER UGA I think so quite a few recruiting classes in between the success. Think he understands his limitations better than most “CEO” types and has the cred to attract top level coaches unlike most. Just my $0.02 and that’s what it’s worth!

That’s my bad as first appeared in my post. Don’t know much about his personal life so thought it was maybe a step son or from a previous marriage/relationship.

Lot of moving parts in that scenario.

I don’t think it’s Dabo but the people turning their nose up at the thought of a coach with 2 NCs under his belt cracks me up.
Those same experts would then list their “next Saban” candidate even though he’s never won the Sun Belt.
