Scott Woodard ha been hyped since we got him at LSU, so its time to see what he has got when Freeman gets there you must make it happen. Alumini step up!

Woodward is going to give him $3.0 million a year, with a $20 million buyout.

Why not? Unnecessary congrats worked so well with Pelini.

that's a bold strategy, I figured when he came in we'd revoke our offer but locking him in....interesting

Gotta be more creative

I would go The Godfather route, get him nice and plastered at The Chimes and then have him wake up next to a dead hooker and leverage him into being all time LSU DC

I mean Pelini who nobody wanted bent us over I can only imagine what LSU is going to do to inflation on salaries for Freeman who everyone wants with some deep pocket universities. He's going to be hired here and he'll likely inflate DC coaching salaries too by the time LSU is done with the contract.

A DC who is a big recruiter and helps with the program stability is far better that someone who wants to leave after a year.

I’ll take the guy who performed so well in year 1 that teams want him to run their program.

Anything is possible obviously but I think if Freeman comes here I think he'll be here at least 2 years.

If LSU wins another SEC or national title this year, he’’ll be gone in one. I’m ok with that.

If he’s so intent on being a HC and confident in his ability, especially with our talent why wouldn’t you offer him something ridiculous like $3.5/yr for 2 years with no buyout? Or the buyout for just that 2yr contract?

Why would he do that? Especially when he just saw us fire Pellini after 1 year

A buyout comes into play when shite hits the fan, not whenever he gets a HC job in a year or two. So your entire premise doesn’t really make sense

What? You really think a coach is going to come over to a program like LSU under investigations where it's a possibility they end up cleaning house on coaches? It's called job security dude. He wants his guaranteed money and if you don't give it to him, he's not coming to a program that just shite canned their DC after 1 year. The program isn't stable right now you don't even have that type of luxury in negotiations.

Then we can hire Aranda again after he is fired from Baylor after 3 years.

Perfect timing.

My point is why not go way higher on the contract and lower on the buyout? The OP suggested something stupid like a $20M buyout. Did he plan giving him a 7 year contract???
Idk how crazy it is to only offer him a buyout on a 2-3 year contract and make the contract short in order to make the annual pay insanely high!

What if Freeman just wants Notre Dame? Or Texas?
Is that on Woodward or the alumni?
