My memories are not fond.

I was in junior high and high school during that time so my memory is a bit hazzy. However, IIRC he did as good as any OC could do with Aaron Brooks at QB.

I remember Stallworth scoring on a few nice WR screens. Feels like Mccarthy was one of the first coaches to make them a staple of his offense.

I also remember for a while, angled direct snaps to Deuce were a part of the offense.

Aaron Brooks was hot garbage after McCarthy left.

In 2000, McCarthy was hired as the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints .[21] That year, the Saints won their first playoff game in the franchise's history and finished 10th overall in offense.[22] During the regular season, the Saints held a 10–6 record.[23] McCarthy was selected as National Football Conference (NFC) Assistant Coach of the Year by USA Today in 2000.[22] In 2002, the Saints led the NFC in scoring, with 49 touchdowns and 432 points. In 2003, the Saints scored 340 points—their eighth highest-scoring season ever. All of McCarthy's four years with the Saints rank in the team's top 10 years for offense.[18] While McCarthy was with the team, the Saints’ offense set 25 individual and 10 team records.

He was a better coach than Jim Haslett. He turned Aaron Brooks into something, at least for a couple of seasons.

He was essentially allowed to leave after the 2003 season to go to San Francisco. The Saints offense had declined by that point. I think the last season he was here, the Saints offense didn’t score a TD on the first drive of the game until late in the season. Kinda like the Saints’ fans current lord and savior, Sean Payton.

Is that Carl smith?

If so, frick him. Y'all wanna know what it is to have a BAD OC, look no further.

Even with Bobby Herbert, we still should have won more if not for his run run dink pass philosophy.

. I remember one time he was on during the off-season with Buddy D. Some guy called in and ask if he had a name for his offense now this was when the west coast offense was all the rage. Karl tells him I guess we call it the gulf coast offense and this ole baw tells him
No I can do better. Your offense is the coastal erosion offense because your constantly losing ground. Smith didn’t say shite and buddy went to a commercial
