What's to Like About Herman

- As a recruiter, he has built a virtual wall around the city of Houston, taking 4&5 star local talent from would be suitors A&M, UT, TCU, Baylor, TexTech
- Feared by potential Big12 members (mostly out of state) *edited
- Not only does he coach an explosive brand on offense, but also a physical brand on defense
- Youth - while some see this as liability, I see it as a gift. We can not under estimate how he is viewed by young potential recruits and his ability to relate to them. While others fear that he might look at LSU as a stepping stone, I would be equally concerned about older coaches Energy level, and treating this job as their retirement plan. We can not be fearful of youthful ambitions.
- AppleWhite/ Aranda - I like the potential of bringing hometown product AppleWhite back home, and paring him with the bright young Aranda as OC. It would be interesting to see AppleWhite offensive prowess combined with the plethora of Dual Threat talent on the roster or the potential of incoming Pro style guy(s) coming in.
- Style of offense vs Saban - Alabama has proven to be vulnerable vs the spread concepts run by Ole Miss and Clemson. We need a Bama Beater.
- Jimbo - Herman's performance vs Fisher in the bowl game was most impressive. Likewise, the whooping he delivered to Oklahoma this year was equally impressive.

Lol. Never heard Applewhite referred to as having "offensive prowess". But I'm sure he's learned a lot since Saban fired him 2007.

He is a yes man to Herman that is from the area and knows the area. Thats all we would need. He knows his role and has accepted it at Houston.

Those of us that follow recruiting know that he has taken a few big recruits in the last two cycles. UH is a mid major, so the meat of the program is 2-3 star guys.

He's undoubtedly got the highest ceiling. Plus he ran all over Alabama, your current biggest nemesis. May be a little risky, but he's the only realistic candidate that I would even consider as having the potential to be dominant, to be someone every other team fears.

Not at all bro. I think he is just one of several good possibilities. I most intersested in getting a good Bama beater. They seem to struggle vs explosive spread teams who can play good D.

Good points but applewhite will be his replacement at UH. He's not coming to BR

Prolly right. The offensive philosophy is really from Hermans by way of Ohio State.

Agreed. Decision makers a going to take the easy way out in this one though.

His offense at OSU vs Bama had 281 rushing yards with 6.7 yards a carry. Let that sink in.

Players currently on UH are 1, 2 and 3 star players. First 5 star player to go to UH came this year.
UT is the one waiving the flag for UH to be admitted to the Big 12. Following the keep your friends close, enemies closer theory.
Applewhite - already a OC and a good one at that. Why would he take a step backward? He has a line on head coaching. Oh, and Applewhite calls the plays.
Look more closely at the program, DC is the credit to the OU and FSU wins. Shut down both very powerful offenses.
Yes, he would fit at LSU. But get your facts straight before you look like a fool.

I think the OP's major point is that Big 12 expansion is not without its challenges, and UH in particular has its its own set of unique challenges (whether from Texas or Non-Texas schools)

There is no doubt about who he is. But if Herman is a legitimate target from our perspective, certainly there will be discussion about the "possibility (not certainty) of bringing people he is wants.

I for one have looked very closely already, and you certainly cant perform on that level without great defensive performance. But the ability to score points has been a part of that equation. My focus has been offense because traditionally, stopping people has not been LSU's problem. Scoring has.

The OP was simply stating what he likes about Herman. The preponderance of his facts are quite accurate. Its always amazing when people get on here and turn friendly discussion into personal attacks. Its not that serious.
Luvlsufootball does not look like a fool at all. Thans OP.

Ed Oliver (#4 overall in the nation) is the first 5 star player to ever sign with a non-power five program.
