with how he worked with Ensminger, this could actually be a decent option for them.
That’s one way to look at it. Another is that Ensminger was humble, set his ego aside, and seemed totally fine with letting Brady get most of the credit for the 2019 offense, no matter what their division of responsibilities was.
Based on all we know about him and all of his comments, as recently as two weeks ago, does anyone think Fisher would do the same?

What’s the word on A&M Off Coord?
Last I heard he has a large, $85 million buyout.
Underrated comment

Heard they were getting close to finalizing a deal with Timbo Disher who will handle all the play calling duties.

How is firing him a threat? "Ok. Fire me. When can I expect my $80MM check?" He's wearing the pants in this relationship.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. “Do this or we will fire you and pay you 85 million to hang out on your ranch!!”
Yea if that don’t scare him I don’t know what will

It isn't. Aggies are just posturing. They have absolutely zero leverage over Jimbo.
It's baffling that they actually expect him to make a good hire at OC and hand over the offense to said hire (without meddling) when he's never done any of those things.
Hell, he's never indicated that he's considering any of that.
Their insiders say he was forced to hire an OC but their insiders also claim the team is in place to contend for a championship every offseason. College Station is so starved for success that they have to make it up every offseason.

Supposedly the TCU signed a new contract this week with a bigger buyout for bot lateral OC and HC jobs with a nice salary increase…
Hard to get real info on then because they are private, but that is what is going around the Texas hs and college coaching circles

In an article on The Athletic an SEC OC says he wouldn't take that job for Jimbo's salary because everyone knows he won't be able to keep from meddling with it.

This isn't true. Jimbo is one man, while that school is huge. Any large institution can put unreal pressure on an individual and break him.
They may not be able to fire him outright due to his buyout, but they can make him hate his life. They can dry up the NIL money. They can follow him 24/7 to see if he is boinking his secretary. They can scrutinize his business dealings. They can have their attack dogs in the media go after him and his family.
A 1000 different ways they can turn the heat up on a coach.
OR, realizing they are stuck with each other, they can sit down with him like adults and work out a plan to fix things. Try the nice way like "Jimbo, you have too much on your plate. Let's hire an expensive OC so you can focus on recruiting and being the Head Coach."
If Jimbo is smart he will play along. If he refuses to change, pray for the dude. Cause he is likely to have a heart attack from the stress next year.
I mean, look how badly he aged this year. The dude isn't well. What good is all that money if he wont be around to enjoy it?

No, they really can’t.

So they can not get any good players and have many more seasons like this past one? That would give fisher plenty of ammo to destroy them publicly with.

And if he isn’t doing that? You know, because very well known multi-millionaires have such a difficult time finding people to have sex with.

They can scrutinize his business dealings.
And if there is nothing to be found because he, like most very wealthy people, has very intelligent people handling this stuff that put a few layers of protection between him and anything remotely shady, assuming there even is anything shady?

They are already going after him. You don’t understand anything about Texas am or their fanbase if you think going after the family is an option.

When the coach’s second 100% guaranteed contract ensures he and his family will never have to work again and still be generationally wealthy, no there isn’t.

Yeah, we really broke Les Miles after almost firing him in 2015, while already having tons of scandal dirt on him that could have gotten him fired for cause if politicians hadn’t stepped in to stop it two years before. Remember when he “promised” he would change the offense in 2016, because that really happened.
Some coaches are just that stubborn. Jimbo’s comments and actions lead me to believe he is absolutely at that same level.

That would be a PR nightmare going forward.
They would never hire a relevant coach again.

They can absolutely fire him. And the money is ready.
Posted on 12/9/22 at 9:07 am to Linoge
You’ll still have to pay him his buyout unless you’re interested in a lengthy, ugly court battle.

The Riley news is starting to leak out now and lets just say that it is becoming obvious that A&M has struck out with Grimes, Lungo, and now Riley.
It is being rumored that Petrino (5-6 as the HC at Missouri State) may now the leader in the clubhouse.
The natives are getting restless and at this point, I cant really blame them.

A&M is just fricked in general. Their culture, and now head coach, is so unappealing to the average coach and player that money is literally the only reason anyone would go there, and now they’ve overextended themselves financially because they’re not as rich as they pretend to be.
Obviously this will lead to more Jimbo situations where guys are going to take the contract and tank intentionally to retire on Gay&M’s dime after they’re forced to offer an obscene amount because no one willingly wants to go there. The entire thing is toxic from an administrative and cultural standpoint. They need to just give up on football and focus on baseball or something
