Considering he wins the rest of his games.

But, what are our HC options right now?
Fisher? His team isn't that good this year. What's the harm in seeing how O does for a full season or 2? Jimbo isn't going anywhere and his buyout will only get cheaper.

Herman? His team is showing its colors right now. Granted, UH quit on him, knowing he wouldn't stay. Also, it's a pretty safe bet to say he's going to UT.

So who else is there? Hasn't the progression of New HC's been Jimbo, Fisher, then coach O if he wins out? Well, he lost 1 game to a team that EVERYONE loses to. And, he kept them scoreless for 3 + quarters.

Personally, i like what O's done with the program. Cut back on practice. Increased film study. Brought the community back to the program. Brought in former players to feel welcome to speak and walk with the players. Is an elite recruiter. Actually speaks and gives you substance at press conferences. And, he sees everything we see. How many times during the Miles era have we seen abysmal play, and just see it repeated the very next game? I know that most coaches do this to, maybe that's just what happens when you've had such a terrible play caller as HC for so long.

(Please, reactionary rantards, don't lose your shite in this thread. You have the rest of the board to do that).

ETA: I understand the hazards of a short term contract. I was trying to placate some of the "we're going to miss out on all the good coaches" crowd with a 2 year deal. I am editing title.

2 year contract would be a death knell on the recruiting trail.

You talking the short contract would hurt recruiting? Let me revise my post to a 2 year contract with an option to extend after year 1 depending on the results.

I don't like the sound of 2 year deal and I think recruits might see that as shaky as well. Other coaches will exploit this in recruiting and say LSU isn't even confident in the guy.

Give him 4-5 years with a minimal buyout.

Want a new guy that is a long term option.

O sucks. You people are fricking stupid. I can rattle off 10 names that would come here at the drop of a hat and recruit just as well, develop quaterbacks and have more or at the least as much success

Well, i'm trying to placate some of the "we're going to miss out on all the good coaches" crowd. I see your point, longer contract is better.

a two year deal is stupid. At least act like you're supporting the coach you're wanting to hire.

Why should he have to be looking over his shoulders at all times?

Instability of the program would create havoc and, in all likelihood we could lose some very good recruits and coaches.
Aranda is a hot commodity in coachi8ng circles. would you expect him to stay around while you conduct an experiment with an unqualified HC?
Mistakes like this take YEARS to recover.

You need stability in your program. Short term contracts show ambivalence and uncertainty.

Could be perceived as an insult to offer a new coach such a short term deal when 4-5 years are the norm. If Coach O and his agent see it that way, its possible he walks and goes somewhere else which would be a REALLY bad look for LSU.

Also hurts bad on the recruiting trail because its basically telling recruits that the athletic department isn't fully on board with Coach O and that he's on a hot seat from the very beginning. Every other school's recruiters going against LSU will be pointing that out...LSU doesn't really believe in Orgeron which is why they only gave him 2 years.

Is Aranda ready for HC? I agree he is an incredible DC and would hate to see him leave. But not all coordinators make good HC's. I don't think we get to keep Aranda under any cirumstances. I give him 2 more years and he's gone.

I honestly believe that O would do a decent job, but I'm not persuaded that he would take us to the top and keep us there. O is good but we have a serious case of sticking with a medium girlfriend cause we don't want to hurt her feelings.

O is #3. If our 2 other targets don't work out then we stick with O and give him 4 years contract. We need to make Herman and Jimbo say no first.

Does anyone know if there's a way I can set my PC to automatically respond to these posts without me actually being here all day? Like some plugin for Firefox or something?

Well, unless you feel a compulsory need to reply to every thread, you could ignore it??? I know, crazy talk.
