None, beyond approving salaries and contracts.

As it should be.

I am becoming less and less impressed with Scott Woodward. He has shown only the ability to over pay.

I agree.

That said, O had earned the benefit of the doubt to pick his DC and (de facto) OC after last year's success. Even if from the outside both seemed like curious choices. BUT where Woodward failed (and this isn't said with the benefit of hindsight) is agreeing to the $2.3 million for Pelini and (to a much lesser extent) the $800k for Linehan. Neither guy had tremendous market demand at the time they were hired. It was up to Woodward to be the adult in the room and tell O "it's your call if you want to hire them. But were are not vastly overpaying market value to get them." Kind of like a teenager when a parent tells them they can pick their new car. The teenager has no concern about the cost. He/she just wants what they want.

Moving forward, Woodward MUST be much more hands on. Aside from the fact the revenue stream has been decimated like never before (with no foreseeable end in sight) O has lost all credibility and benefit of the doubt this year. So when O comes to Woodward with his next DC choice and it is some washed up guy with ZERO market demand, as has been the case for the majority of O's hires (see: Ensminger, Linehan, Pelini) then Woodward either has to push O in a different direction or set a VERY reasonable spending limit (based on the likely market value for that coach) in order to mitigate the situation if things go bad. Contrary to what he did this year.

If not, LSU won't be able to eat another expensive buyout and Woodward and O should both be out on their asses. Particularly Woodward

always been my issue with Woody. I have tons of confidence in everything else though and hell the Jimbo contract might end up paying off for A&M in the long run.

frick coordinators.

I want to hire a HC where losing a coordinator isn't a fricking program killer.

Yep. Aggie wasn't even sad we hired him away. That's very telling.

It was his idea to commemorate the 2018 Aggot win on the cups too. Woodward seems worse than Alleva.

You think an AD should be involved in hiring assistants, beyond the financial aspect?

That’s a non-starter anywhere.

Myth imo

Jimbos deal looks fine now

Pelini was basically a 1-man search and SW is there to support this HC, especially his HC fresh off a Natty

Pelini says no. O says I really want him. They offer more. Etc

As for the O deal, you had to carry momentum by paying Ed in that spot. I have never been an O fan but even I can see why he did it off the GOAT season and wanting to project confidence in what LSU was building

Bottom line, as long as donors will line up for him and his programs have success then nobody fricking cares about these salaries

Woodward was supporting his championship winning head coach.

He will probably ask a lot more questions this time around.

He will hire the next coach who will in turn hire his own coordinators. So in that respect Woody will have a big role.

Everyone is following Rant rumors and thinking like football people. The issues at LSU are political and you will get a political solution whether you like it or not.

CEO went to bat a couple times for JBE in his re-election. The popular theory is that Woodward will pin the Title IX on O and fire him for cause but JBE will pin it on SW and a few other underlings.

It is a lot less costly and cleaner to pin this on Scotty than O... It also gets them out of making SW next system Pres.

I am not saying this to defend O or hate on Woodward. Think back in 2020 and tell me you havent seen any other crazier shite than what I am telling you. This is easily done and JBE would help O smooth over the rough waters in the locker room.
