look at the talent he had to work with.
Oh you mean the talent HE brought in? It was his choice to dump Jeff george and go with gannon. At the time people were laughing at that, then gannon becomes a great QB. He got rid of so many cancers on that team and brought in team guys. This is a great hire by the "U"

i don't see how he can install his west coast offense in college, with the mental restrictions and only 4-5 years to have them learn it
Dont you know that Jacory Harris Jarrett lee or Jordan Jefferson could pick up Gruden's offense over one spring training? I mean its a plan that is foolproof
IMO Gruden will get frustrated with the college qbs not picking up his system...Heck he ripped colt mccoy a new one in a sportscenter segment going into the draft last year

That is a concern. Switched QB's too much at Tampa. However I think hes smart enough to know that these are college kids, not pros and patience will be required

I can't remember the name, maybe Behind/Outside (insert something) the Huddle, that used to show NFL teams at practice and stuff. I remember watching Gruden using his terminology and the dude just wanted it to be the most complicated shite ever to the point that it was just stupid. I can't imagine he's going to find many quarterbacks that he'll be patient enough with and who will likewise be patient enough with him, to deal with that shite.

when was the last time a college coach has had success by only coaching in the NFL?
Pete Carroll did alright. He did some minor college experience though, but had been in the NFL for 15 years before coming back to USC.

bill callahan took that offense to NU and we all saw that how worked out
gruden > callahan for sure, but he had a really bad track record in tampa of shuffling QBs. he made spurrier look stable
he'll have to REALLY change and let go for it to work in college

I really believe gruden could be another carroll. Hes gonna kill it in recruiting especially in miami. He has the personality to not only sell kids but their parents as well.

Nope. I lived in Tampa when he was there. They HATED him.

damn good offensive mind. damn good coach.and he has something alot of college coaches do not have to use for recruiting..........A SUPER BOWL RING BABY!
Posted on 11/28/10 at 6:34 pm to Fat Bastard
and.......gruden built a raiders team that made the super bowl then he took dungys players whom dungy could not do jack with and won a super bowl beating his old team, the team he built, the raiders.pretty damn impressive.

You do know that the Raiders ran the exact same O when they went to the SB? Gruden played scout QB leading up to the SB because he knew exactly what Rich Gannon's tendencies were and how he would react in any given situation.

And then Tony Dungy left and became one of the best coaches in the entire NFL and has left the league by his own choosing and many teams would kill to have him come back. While Gruden is a booth MNF guy that is getting discussed for some college gigs.
Maybe people know something we don't.

Uhhhhhh pretty sure Peyton is showing that he can do it with anyone at the helm.

Certainly. But don't you think the coach and quarterback are possibly the two most important people and one isn't necessarily worse without the other but they can certainly be better? You don't think having Tom Moore for the last 13 years at Indy has helped him continue to be the offensive force he is today?
Brees wasn't shabby at San Diego before his shoulder injury, far from it. But he's become one of the best with Peyton.
I think both are very important and make it easy on the other to look good.
