He is giving himself an out in case he changes his mind. So, there's that.

Now, that makes sense. He may want to avoid a circus overshadowing his son’s game. Good call.

If he’s staying it still makes sense to announce tomorrow. Let the focus of today be on the team. Announce tomorrow and make it a free recruiting promo with all eyes on that press conference. Also wait until tomorrow and it screws over lsu even more after a few more coaches take jobs elsewhere

When he put a specific decision time on it (told AD tonight/tomorrow AM), it’s because you already know what you want to do.

So why the delay? I think he’s trying to make the decision look excruciatingly tough to maintain the more humble image he’s worked hard to rebuild.

And a lot of people have committed to him at Ole Miss. so he’s trying to respect that (I think).

Of course I could be wrong.

I think he learned his lesson with the way he left Tennessee.

He's managing things more professionally this time around.

Like I sad:

Managed Exit.

I think he knows. OM knows. LSU knows. This was the agreement. get us thru the Egg Bowl with a win. Let my team and the fans enjoy that. Let me get thru my son's game. Let me tell my team on Saturday. Keep everything calm. make the program look stable for the playoff committee. Keep the staff in place for the playoffs.

Lane exits with his reputation intact as much as possible. His team heads into the playoffs without controversy or upheaval.

"arse whipping"? OU's offense is not scary in the least & with the projected weather supposed to be wet & cold & windy, i.e. miserable football weather, LSU's defense should keep the score close.

There's no way that he doesn't know what he is going to do. So if he were going to stay he would have already announced it to avoid the distraction. Consequently the only logical conclusion is that he is leaving but would not announce it until after the game. Not immediately because it would take away from what the players have earned with the victory. But probably tomorrow. Is my thinking flawed?

It doesn’t make sense to alienate the Ole Miss boosters, fans, administrators, etc by going through last two weeks just to announce you’re staying. Why cause people all this angst just to say I’m staying. He has to be leaving. But it is Lane.
