I say no on Chip Kelly.
His decision making ability is now in question after the job he did in Philly. He dumped players that will make you scratch your head and then brings in Bradford to try and run your style of offense. Brings in Demarco Murray and does nothing with him.
The Eagles were bad because of the personnel he kept or dumped. He made some very poor decisions there.
Also I hate the pace of offense he runs. It really screws your defense if you don't get 1st downs. He is so hard headed that he still tries to run it even when he defenses are gassed.
Also, they did struggle when they played good and fast defenses. That style of offense can be dealt with in the SEC and I just don't care for it.
I really don't want to see a bunch option crap at LSU. I hate that style of offense.

Really? Who are these "options" you speak of? All the guys we'll be going after currently have jobs. There's not many out there with a better resume than Kelly.

It would be insane not to consider Kelly especially if his people call expressing interest. He has just as good a resume as Herman - if no better. He was/is successful in the NFL. With the right personnel he can light up the scoreboard. His style of play would cause Saban fits year in and out

His resume is way better actually. He consistently brought a power 5 program to BCS bowl games, and was a once in a lifetime athlete (Cam Newton) away from winning a National Title with fricking Oregon.

Agree with you wholeheartedly on Kelly. Actually that Oregon defense kept Newton under control that night.
I know people say his defenses were no good, but you don't beat upper tier PAC -12 teams by 30-35 points without being able to play defense and his teams would do that.

How does the buyout clause work in Kelly's contract? He has a four-year deal worth $24 million; he can't just walk away from that, can he?

1. Herman
2. Jimbo
3. Kelly
100%
2. Jimbo
3. Kelly
100%

I think most people assume he will be fired from SF. Not sure though.

Kelly would be a good hire for LSU.

Chip Kelly should easily be the #1 candidate, I would pull an Alabama like move to the 49ers and make him say no. He truly is a football genius and what he did with Oregon is nothing short of amazing. He brings a dynamic offense and proved he can bring that to a national title game. Oregon has slowly declined since he left. He has a allotted staff salary at LSU that would allow him to hire a top notch Defensive coordinator. He has had enough time in NFL to see it is no fun to coach professionals and is probably fed up with Kaepernicks antics. I say full speed press on Chip.

Stanford, USC
He beat Stanford in 2010 and 2011. Lost to them in 2012 after they led the entire the second half. He beat USC in 09, 10, and 12. Lost to them in 11.
Chip is good. When Oregon played LSU and Auburn there was a talent differential in recruiting. LSU's talent and resources with Chip Kelly coaching would be insane. Home run hire. Whether he goes to LSU is another story. He is a New England guy who loves the eastern seaboard and west coast. Doubt southern culture suits his lifestyle tastes.

Chip Kelly's departure from the Ducks was by mutual consent. He had worn out his relationship with the athletic dept over his treatment of the program's big boosters. Too, it was well known that all he cared bout was the X's & O's of coaching & detested the rest of the demands of being a HC. The same was said of him in Philly. It was widely stated that he had no life outside of football & there were good reasons he's never been married.

He is in the first year of a 4 year contract. He's not going to be fired and he's not leaving after 1 year.
