Thanks Rocket!! I'm not surprised there are conflicting reports - would not be surprised if no one has received a firm offer. All along everyone is saying the Michigan AD has this process with x number of candidates and he planned to speak with each of them (or at least contact to gauge interest). Next thing you hear he is supposedly offering everyone he talks to. Strange...
As far as Les, if they don't get someone on board shortly (next week or so), then I have to believe they'll make a real run at him.
Everyone please notice I NEVER indicated Miles will accept - not interested in getting flamed because I have an opinion that is not the company line.

Well, I will say that on the Schiano thing, I don't ever remember reading anything official on that situation as to whether or not he got an offer.
However, on the RR deal, I'm assuming he has one considering he has a "decision" to make. I still don't think I've read anything official on whether he has gotten a firm offer or what the details are of it. I'd be curious to know how much they are offering.
I agree. And he might go depending on the deal they're offer him. Risking all of the bad PR he'd get might not stop him from going home. Now, they'd have to offer him a sweet deal if we win the BCS title.
One thing that might happen and it may be unlikely but they might name English as Interim Head Coach and go after Les or someone else after next season. I know it's unlikely but you never know.

ok....seriously.
What does it take for you people to take the man's word?

Get off your high horse. It's not really anything about/against Les, it's just some people won't feel it's over until they hire another coach. If it bothers you, you need to find a way to deal with it. You have no other choice.

I've heard from pretty damn reliable source that there was an offer to Schiano

I've heard that rumor a couple of times. Major problem is it will seriously disrupt recruiting for them for probably this year and next, assuming the actually say this person is the interim coach.

Rocket-
Always enjoy reading your post...
Probably because your post almost always seem to be grounded and logically thought out.
I'm kind of lost on this one...
This entire situation is 100% about LES.
Those that are convinced he is staying, believe that, because they believe LES to be a man of integrity, and therefore a man of his word.
Those that will remain nervous until UM names someone else as HC...Obviously, question the value of LES' word.
And, naturally...everyone is welcome to take which ever side of this issue they would like...
However, whichever side one chooses...certainly says a lot regarding their opinion of LES. There's no other way to spin it!
IT'S TOTALLY ABOUT LES!

Yep. That would definitely be a drawback. That's why I think it's unlikely they'll do that but they could say they are giving English a fair shot at the job and may remove the "interim" label if he does well or get rid of him after next season if it doesn't work out and at the same time, after next season, UM won't have any obligation to pay those UM assistants on staff.
Who knows....

depending on who they get as HC, IF they pay some or all of the buyout for that coach (LM 1.5 mil, RR 4 mil, or whomever) wouldn't they just pay the mil or less to get rid of the assistant coaches? I understands they were trying to make Lloyd happy with his assistants but it seems to be a HUGH sticking point with anyone Michigan even talks to, I would hope UofM would see any HC is good or bad as a HC because of their assistants....is this odd thinking on my part?

No doubt. I didn't make myself clear....just because I don't think it's over doesn't mean I don't trust his word or think that he lacks integrity. I just will feel better once they hire someone not named Les.

Not necessarily, but I could see how/why someone would think that.

There was an offer, and he conditionally accepted the offer.
After a few hours to think it over, he decided to stay at Rutgers. Schiano feels that if he can't get the Penn State job, he'll find a way to turn Rutgers into a superpower of the NE.

I didn't read any of this thread. Just skipped to the end. But I just heard RR's comments to the media up there. And it is clear that he will be the next coach of the Wolverines, at least to me. He's a great coach, and would be a great hire for Michigan. But then again, he couldn't make the cut at Tulane.(sarcasm) But in all seriousness, judging by his comments, he is gone.

Looks more and more obvious to me that Lloyd Carr left the proverbial ticking time bomb at UM and is making damn sure it goes off(by sticking around). I can only imagine that Lloyd is trying to assure his legacy(what ever that may be).

That would be the ultimate in stupidity.
No way that happens. Not even with Bill Martin manning the ship. (oops, bad metaphor?)
