Hell no! You freaking people consistently amaze me with your stupidity.

Team, bowl game, etc.

An analyst had to tell them both to start blitzing.

Your grandma knows more X’s and O’s than coach O apparently. The analyst suggested they run the zero blitz and leave no help on the back end. Worked against Bama so they kept running it.

"D" Besides it would be a great opportunity for Deronte to show how good he can be without the influence of coach "O"

This bowl game means absolutely nothing win or lose it doesn’t mean anything.
Tell that to the players. No one with any pride wants to be known as the first team to have a losing season at LSU since 2000.
The additional practices with Brennan coming back to develop timing and routine with the receivers that will be here next year is invaluable.
The additional practices allow the coaches an opportunity to work with younger players that don't get as much attention in practice during the season.
The bowl revenue increase LSU's share of conference bowl revenue.
Good practices and performance in the bowl game is a springboard into Spring Football.
It may have no meaning to you, but otherwise your assertion is way off-base.
ETA: Almost forgot the most important reason bowl games count for something - the players get treated like kings during bowl week, they get swag, stay in 5 star hotels, treated to lavish parties and meals. Yeah, I'm sure they absolutely hate that.

Everything you mentioned has nothing to do with the actual game. Yea the extra practices are great, the bowl experience and the extra work for younger players. The actual game is meaningless win or or lose it doesn’t matter. The revenue is split amongst all the teams you don’t get more money for winning.
With that said I love bowl season it’s a fun time to watch football one last time. But I put very little stock for next year in a one off bowl game.

Oh, I understand that is does not matter to you. Championships, yada yada yada playoffs yada yada yada.
It does matter to the people who count. The players. The University. Exposure in a hotbed of talent in our recruiting base.

I never avowed this, are you trying to put words in my mouth?

Once again, you, you, you. We get you don't care, others more important to the program do.

You are ignorant to think it was Darontes fault the 1st half of the year. O got out of his own way. Before the season he specifically stated he was going to be much more involved with the defense and play calling. O threw Aranda under the bus for gods sake when he was here. To think an that an NFL coach took 8 games to realize he was playing base and never blitzing because an analyst told him is absurd. O’s stubbornness heals us back because he resorted to his Ole Miss days. You saw Daronte’s D from Bama on
Remember LAST year- Bo fricking Pelini leaked to the press in mid-season that we weren't running the defense he would have chosen to. Said we didn't have the right players to do what we were doing; and yet we were doing it anyway. And O responded back that it didn't matter, fronts don't affect the secondary or something to that effect.
Pelini is not going to say we're running a scheme that doesn't fit the players, if that is his scheme. He didn't say they were working to correct things, he said it was the wrong scheme. Wrong front.
That meant O was mandating "we're going to do it this way because I'm the head coach".
Got rid of Pelini, couldn't find an experienced coordinator to take over. Took an inexperienced guy from the NFL, who didn't have the clout to challenge him.
And apparently kept trying to do the same thing he did in 2020.
Then he was officially fired, and ... I guess relented. And from that moment on, LSU looked like a competent and fast defense. *Who knows, perhaps Pelini would have, too. It sure sounded like he had different ideas on how to do things.
Boils down to this- Orgeron didn't have the tactical acumen to run a defense (or team). He had ideas, but no in-depth knowledge or feel. He sat back and watched, and when he saw something he liked, he wanted to repeat that- but didn't understand how it was done.
He did that with the offense, too. He wanted a passing game, but couldn't begin to craft it himself.
It worked when he stayed on the sidelines, but when his ego got involved and he wanted it to be "his", everything collapsed.

Of course the players care I never said they didn’t. LSU is on TV every week this isn’t the 80s exposure from a Tuesday night bowl game on January 4th isn’t really moving the needle.
I want LSU to win every game they play against including the Texas bowl but you really want the game to carry a lot more weight than it really does.

Going to be painful to watch this board melt when all the Jones simps find out he's not the next DC

Any coach that allows the scheme to be what we saw in the first 8 games...even if the head coach is meddling is shite.
You can’t have it. You need someone with more backbone and ability to convince important people that your way is the best way...or, at minimum, the current way is retarded.

This is bullshite, defensive analyst proposed and implemented the run blitz to take away the run in the RPO and force short passes.
DJ at DC is not the answer. Look at the players who quit on him, he had more quitters than Pelini!!

The players quit on Orgeron, not Pelini or Jones. This was Orgeron's team. There was huge disarray on both sides of the ball-
we all heard about the offensive mess, with 2x guys doing playcalls at the same time.
We heard Pelini state "it's the wrong scheme" last year... he didn't say the players needed to get better or work harder. He said they didn't fit what they were running. Jones didn't tell a reporter that this year, but that's probably his professional demeanor.
Whatever the case, it's clear that LSU has the talent to be a strong defensive team, when the scheme fits the players.

Kiffin told him they stayed in the same base defense. The analyst suggested the zero blitz.

i like what i saw when O turned him loose. maybe it could be.
Why does everyone assume O turned him loose? How do you know O was restricting him? The only thing we do know is that Kiffin told O that LSU was predictable and he knew everything they would do. So they changed that and then started doing a lot of cover zero. Which was basically a desperation move that worked for the most part. Alabama wasn't prepared for it and it worked. Arkansas and A&M knew it was coming but didn't have the ability to make LSU pay big time other than a couple of plays. The point is LSU had to have a opponent tell them this, it wasn't something they figured out on their own which is very worrisome. Especially when you consider the amount of support staff and Analyst working at LSU. This should give you a hint that the entire staff is incompetent as worst and at best inexperienced and unqualified.
