No matter what head coaching candidate everyone likes, there's one coach that is 100% agreed upon that must remain on staff.

Aranda

And he will be gone next year thanks to the 4 year deal that will be in place for the new coach.

Sure was nice having the best at LSU while it lasted.

You understand this has nothing to do with anything right?

Well he isn't going to be HC here.

I don't think he takes a lateral move anywhere.

Sure it does, we're saying no thanks to the possibility of promoting him to that position.

Aranda didn't take this job with the hopes of Miles getting fired in his first year. If he thinks the job should be gifted to him after just one year here then he can kick rocks.

I love Aranda, but he just isn't qualified yet to be handed the LSU HC job

plus his recruiters abilities scare me

LF described him as "weird" and not talking much, which doesn't exactly scream confidence into his recruiting abilities

I don't know, it definitely didn't stop him.

I keep seeing these type of comments about him but it's all undocumented. When did LF say this? Was he joking, taken out of context? And since when was coaching a congeniality competition? He held the number 1 team in the nation scoreless 'till the 4th quarter on his own scheme. How does that not qualify as experience?

He is more qualified than Ed Orgeron. Good god. Aranda was hired to be ed Orgeron's boss.
Aranda has actually had two very successful stints at big time programs.

So...lets keep an unproven HC just to keep Aranda??? Ok, so in 2 years when Aranda gets a HC gig himself, only THEN can LSU deal with hiring a qualified head coach?

Suffering CHRIST you people are irreversibly retarded!!!

are you serious bass? your brain came up with this?

we should do everything we can to keep dave aranda as DC at LSU. he's a damn good DC.

if we elevate him to HC he is no longer our DC. then he would be a first time HC and might suck at it, esp at first. then we would have a sucky HC and not have him at DC.

I sure hope our Adm. isn't that stupid.

Does anyone know if Aranda wants to be a head coach at this time? How involved was he last year in the recruiting process?

I believe this. I've met Aranda in person twice. Once at a basketball game in the PMAC, and once in the basketball aisle at Walmart. Nice guy but he comes across as very socially awkward and introverted.

I don't think aranda took his position with expectations of becoming LSU's next head coach. However, I do think he deserves a look. That being said, it's not gonna happen.

I know it's not going to happen. I just need a minute to sulk in the fact we're going to let yet another top tier coach slip through our program only to experience the highest level of success elsewhere as I look on with envy.

Booger McFarland just said Dave Aranda is the best DC in the country.

He also said the personality argument is overrated, the guy can coach and it's evident by the development of his players from last year to this.

What happens with the best coordinators in the country?

They get HC jobs. He took a bunch of 3 stars in Wisconsin and made them into a top 10 defense. LSU needs the best coach as HC, and Aranda is next in line.
