A 11-1 regular season team just won the SEC and the title last year. Those records are not settling because they often times means you are in the hunt for conference and playoff titles until the very end.

In this day you will be disappointed with anyone you hire Jimbo or Herman if you expect 12-0 consistently

Why do we want a re-tread? Let's go after someone new! The fans couldn't get rid of Jimbo fast enough in 2005. We should move on and get a new coach with a new vision. Tom Herman all the way, it's time to move away from the familiar!

You're hired Tom... er i mean Tim

I don't expect it consistently, however, I expect that to be the expectation. Go back to the 90's, we were happy with 8 wins. Saban comes in, our expectations change to National Championships. Is it attainable, no, probably not, however, it should be our goal.

I don't want a program "manager", we've had that. It would be nice to take a chance on a young up and coming coach. Let's step out of our comfort zone of 10-11 wins and raise our expectations. Either we raise them or play second to Alabama every year. Trust me, they aren't starting the season thinking 10-11 wins....

Jimbo is a pretty sharp offensive mind and qb developer. And he knows how to run and recruit at a big time program. I say proven over trendy right now. We don't need the Gus malzan or rich rod outside the box mistake.

Of course I could be wrong and Jimbo might be a bust and tom Herman could be a football demigod, but there are more unknowns with Herman. I've logically balanced this out and my head tells me Jimbo or a couple of other guys that are more proven.

I understand that Jimbo is a "safe" hire. My problem is that he is too "safe"...we've had "safe" for 11 years...it has been frustrating to watch...the fans wanted Jimbo out in 2005 and guess what, he was let go, LSU fans rejoiced...now we want to bring him back...it's almost like remarrying the same woman twice after a divorce....no thanks....time to move on

Did you see what Jimbo's redshirt freshman QB did against Ole Miss in week one? I'll take that any day.

It's amazing to me that you can get locked into one coach and refuse to look at the very coaches that beat his arse, with less talented players....

Its amazing to me that people look at individual games and make a decision. I will take either and be very happy, but jimbos body of work is much greater than Herman, and it's not really even close.

Dinardo spanked saban in 99...we probably shouldn't have hire him either.

To be fair, I think Herman gets his arse handed to him against Louisville as well.

2005

It was 2006 homey...but carry on. And les had him handcuffed, like every other OC that's been here.

Go look at FSUs offense, it's nothing like what we ran here in 03-06.

Jimbo is a top notch coach. Herman might be better. I can see him going 13+ wins...or I can see him going 6-6. Its fine if we want to take that chance, but at least admit it's risky.

Sooooo many of the new hotshot coaches fizzle out when they get to playing the big boys.

So you'll take a coach that just got his arse kicked by two coaches that you do not want, Herman and Petrino? O.k.......

Agreed. Some of the rantards should consider getting Jimbo's nutz out of their mouths. Got his arse whooped via Houston in the bowl, Louisville. And you come here talking about USF???? GTFOH

I think Jimbo is a good choice but I want Herman way more.

Herman has the intellect, the energy, the charisma, the youth, the innovation. He has what Urban Meyer had, this guy is going to be legendary and if we miss out on him, we will surely regret it.

He has developed 4 1st round draft pick qbs. He has won 3 ACC championships with 2 qbs and a nc. Almost ever OC under miles under performed ask yourself why? Saban got mud stomped by Utah in bowl game does that make him a bad coach?

To be fair, weren't Russell, EJ Manuel, and Winston (no 1) all top 5 qbs coming out of HS and Ponder top 15? I mean, I keep reading he developed these guys into first round picks, but it seems like these guys were all highly rated before they got to being coached by Fisher. If he developed them into top five picks, does he get the blame for on,y 1 of the 4 having success on the next level? He gets credit for developing them into NFL picks instead of actual NFL QBs?

I understand the point you are trying to make but how many top rated qbs did LSU get that fizzled or transferred out? Maybe Jimbo was lucky.

Ha! So he leaves LSU in 2006 just to have J Russell go as the top pick.....since then he has had numerous first round pick QB's. Also since 2006 how awful have we been in O minus 2007 with a crap ton of talent on O that Fisher helped develop! Esp Matt Flynn. We were wrong in 2005 about him and to be honest our O has never been consistent after he left, we were wrong to want him gone....you know, sometimes as fans we really don't know jack shite! This would not come close to Miles as this guy knows how to put a bad arse O in the field...that much I do know

All that matters is that Jimbo develops them into great college qbs for lsu's sake. I don't care if they are bust in the nfl. If they go first or second round it means they put together a great body of work in college in a pro style offense and that usually means we would be winning.

I want Herman #1, but anyone calling Jimbo a "retread" is an idiot. Maybe he needs to reevaluate his DC? Maybe he has very young players on D? Maybe the Louisville game was just one of those snowball situations that got away from him. Those games happen to some of the best. (Fran 31 Saban 0). Has Saban ever lost to a team with less talent? "Fisher coaches in an easy conference and can't beat the big boys of the sec". I believe he won a natty over the sec's best in 2013. Guy is a great recruiter, offensive mind and QB developer. Yes, he sold a bit of his soul to protect Jameis. I'm sure he breathed a sigh of relief the day he declared. We all watched that babysitting nightmare right in front of our eyes. I'm all in for Herman, but I'd still be very happy with fisher. This is all coach recruiting. NOTHING is guaranteed. It's all human potential
