You figure it out ....

How firing Manny Diaz, hiring Mario Cristobal could cost Miami an additional $27.7 million

The University of Miami’s football head coaching moves to fire Manny Diaz and hire Mario Cristobal on Monday could end up costing the school close to $28 million. And the 10-year, $80 million contract that multiple news media outlets have reported Cristobal as receiving could require millions more.

Cruel?

Yes. Not because they got rid of him. Because they used the fact if was his dream job to keep him in place in case they couldn't get Cristobal. If he knew he was possibly going to get the UM job and used Temple as insurance then this is his karma. But I honestly believe he didn't expect to get the Miami gig and couldn't pass up on his dream job. Still a dick move but not like what UM just did to him

Manny Diaz completely deserved that shite for what he did to Temple.

I do feel bad for his assistant coaches and support staff that got caught up in it though.

If Diaz performed, they wouldn’t have been in this situation

He won 5 of 6 to end this season without his starting QB. He also went 8-3 last season. And this is with everyone acknowledging that Miami hasn't supported its football program for well over a decade. He had a far better conference winning percentage than Shannon or Golden, but got less time than either.

Cristobal is an objective upgrade for them

Is he? He was objectively bad at FIU, another school that doesn't support football. He had one great year at Oregon, who actually invests in its program.

Miami is talking big about committing to football again, but if they don't deliver, I don't think Cristobal will automatically make them better.

It’s just business.

Not to mention, these dudes are highly paid. Someone who is paying me millions a year and is about to have to buy me out a few million more can “cruelly” fire me as much as they want.

not to mention that it's just the entertainment business. i think they'll all be ok compared to us day jobbers. diaz could literally call it day right now, find a hot 20 something, and sail the world for the rest of his life. he'll be ok.
