I submit he was. I will open the floor for comments for, or for candidates to oppose....

Oregeron and Chizik are comparable in the SEC. Pete Fiutak of CFN compared Chizik's hire to heaving a 64 foot shot in the first quarter of a basketball game. Even if it goes in, it was still a stupid shot.

No, because Curley had been successful at Southern Mississippi.
Curley simply didn't get the job done. Curley also had the misfortune of coaching against Spurrier during his glory years at Florida. LSU also played Miami during those years and would get mud stomped.
I do refer to the Hallman years as "The Dark Period" of LSU football.

I agree, even though I think this is too early to call.
Isn't it ironic how Iowa State got over on Auburn with this hire? Iowa State gets rid of Chizik and upgrades with Rhoades. Rhoades leaves AU for ISU and Auburn has Chizik. If this Chizik hires failes (like we expect), this could send AU into a tailspin like LSU went into in the 90s.

Okay, one vote for Jerry Baldwin.

no way. At least he loaded that roster with talent. Also, it's not like Ole Miss was a great program he drove into the ground.
Charlie Weis could be the clear cut winner if he keeps this up.....his contract plays heavily in my choice.

No way? He went o'fer in the SEC last year, his third in the program. He was a good recruiter, but a horrid choice as a HC.

Curley wasn't even the worst hire in LSU's history. Archer was the worst for LSU. Believe it or not, Curley actually improved the program. It's just that Archer's destruction was so thorough you couldn't tell.

If by improved you mean destroyed, then I would agree with this.

Curley was 16-28 in 4 seasons at LSU including the worst season in LSU history at 2-9.

I was there in the student section for that lovely 2-9 season...

If I'm not mistaken, the last home game that year was (ironically) a loss to Southern Miss. I remember meeting a Southern Miss cheerleader a week later at a bar and talking. She said she was glad they played LSU cause it was a game they knew they would win.
Sad times...

10-1-1; 8-4; 4-7; 5-6
What do you think happened in this 4 year stretch. The result was a program with the least amount of talent in modern LSU history. Not saying that Curley could have coached the talent if he had it; we really don't know cause he didn't have any. Curley actually improved the talent level significantly over his watch. This was the talent that DiNardo won early with.

Hallman didn't improve the program, but Archer does need to be held accountable for starting the decline. He took over a very solid program from Arnsparger and proceeded to run it down (his last couple of teams were disasters).......I'll never forget that bowl game against Syracuse where we were getting beaten pretty badly and the players over on the bench cutting up like we were winning the national title. His players seemed to have more than their share of off the field issues as well.

Archer certainly bears responsibility, but to say that the Archer hire was worse than the Hallman hire is wrong.
I know Broadhead hired Arnsbarger, but was Archer hired under him or Dean? I can't remember. Also, who were the finalists for the job when Hallman was hired?

curly hallman was by far the worst hire in LSU history....he was pathetically obtuse and stupid...I doubt that he could write three coherent paragraphs...it was sad...when he was going down the toilet the only answer he could come up with was to work harder....last year he was fired from a high school job in alabama...archer was still able to be a college asst coach....hallman had some success at s miss because of favre...
