Warren Sapp - Kiffin told TB Def he is gone to Tenn.

Sapp said this morning that Monte Kiffin told the TB Def that he is gone to Tenn next year. Stated it as fact. I would assume Warren has some connections on that Defense. What does this mean for Chavis? His alledged 2nd interview with Tenn might not have panned out.

Well, that is the only reason why I give the statement some credence. He didn't say "I think", he stated it as a done deal and that Monte had already informed the defensive players. Leavs CHavis in the running as LSU DC.

Uh... Chavis was at Tennessee for the past 20 years.
young Kiffin got rid of the entire Defensive staff, since then Chavis has been interviewed by Clemson twice.
So really, this has no bearing on his interview at all. But I do think he's waiting on LSU, or he would have already taken the Clemson job.

Sid, come on - Kiffin's first official act was to fire Chavis. His first unofficial act was to see if his dad wanted the job. His second official act was to get agreement from the Tennessee AD and administration that he could hire his dad. Yes, nothing is carved in stone, but this isn't really a question.
Chavis will be coaching somewhere else in 2009 (maybe LSU, who knows?).
