Did we really have Jerry fricking Sullivan and Pete God Damned Jenkins on staff last season? This is how Orgeron got the job, he catered to the old money men's sense of nostalgia. He brought in people they remember from their youth. People they were familiar with, probably to "keep an eye on them young'uns". SMDH.....

That Bebe is one cagey assed Cajun, I'll give him that.

This is unreal!! If CEO doesn’t hire a top and reputable OC and leave him alone then his undoing is near! Wow LSU has really made a splash!

Jerry Sullivan was a consultant not on the coaching staff.

Pete Jenkins put a solid as frick D line on the field last year. Zero hate from me on that one. Greg Gilmore will be cashing an NFL paycheck thanks to Pete Jenkins.

Sullivan was on the shadow staff, so technically you are right, but not really.

Jenkins was on the real coaching staff.

ETA: Melting over shadow staff members? LOL

I understand this, but he was apparently already assisting with coaching the WRs last year. The results were decidedly NOT stellar. We need to work on our hands, reads, rout trees......... All of it.

Our current Wrs do not get open. Perhaps more time with Jerry will help. Perhaps greater input means making him a full coach on staff (in lieu of an "advisor"). I guess we shall see.

Geaux Tigers.

ETA: I have no hate for either of the gentlemen. I think they have much to offer and hope they can relate to the young athletes of today. I do find it odd that we have multiple senior aged coaches. Are we hiring young coaches that need mentorship? Are they not ready for the demands of coaching at this level?

You do realize that even though old, they were two of the most respected coaches in their area of expertise?

Several players have said that Pete taught the players an enormous amount of stuff and made them great players. Also Jerry Sullivan was the defacto receivers coach last year, teaching Joseph as much as possible

yes, I do.

I understand, but we are losing Pete.

So, why was Joseph hired? Will he be let go now?

I'm old enough to remember when Pete coached here the first time. Was pumped about him being brought back. I respect Jerry too. My concerns center around the need to bring in old coaches to coach up or young coaches. WTF is that all about? we need to hire capable position coaches who can perform their duties independently.

We have a legendary DLine coach put together a pretty solid, bordering on spectacular, D-line for just over one year, as agreed. Another legendary wide receiver coach with LSU ties consulting. This is something he did well.

Not bad for a guy who sounds like the cookie monster.

FTR, I am not an Orgeron fan and not convinced he is our answer but I hope he proves me wrong.

They’re talking about Sullivan for WR coach, right? Certainly not OC...

The production on the field was lacking in the WR part. maybe making Jerry the full time WR coach (or other Offensive coach) will change that. I don't know.

Absolutely! He was probably the best WR Coach in LSU'S history.
From the way the WRS performed the last few years, hope he can make some improvements.

It wasn't great, to say the least. some of that may have been QB related, but it can definitely improve.
