Do you think you need a rah rah to be a good recruiter?
Saban sells his process and the coaching a player will receive.
Exactly. Someone yesterday was saying they'd prefer Napier over Aranda because "Napier has a bigger personality".

And O is a bigger personality than either of them. I am tired of having a cartoon character as our HC. I want a great football minded coach who is a proven winner on one side of the ball.

If you have ever met Saban …. He is more Aranda than Jimbo or Riley or Great Recruiter . He was socially awkward when he came to LSU
This. As an alum in a very small town I got to drive Saban around a couple of times when he came here on recruiting trips. I wasn't privy to how he was with the recruits, but around other people he was very scripted. *Tell joke here*. *smile here*. He was like a robot. I didn't get the impression he was an a-hole exactly, just super uncomfortable around unfamiliar people.
Miles was much more genuine. He asked a bunch of questions about the town, what the main industry was, what people did for recreation. He was curious about his surroundings. Saban was all business. He could have been on Mars and all he would care about is finding a Martian five star cornerback.

Nothing new because Woodward doesnt decide based off single game results

You may be right about Jimbo. I never was around him much. Have heard some not so flattering stories about him but nothing I can attest to. Personally I like Jimbo as a coach and an LSU coach. He would do great things here. What he has done at A and M has to be applauded. I know this year didn’t go the way anticipated but there is no doubt he took a program to new heights and they will be consistent trouble for LSU and Alabama going forward

Rockford. Great description. Makes me laugh . I hear he hasn’t changed much to this day.

Does woody have a favorite pet we could hold ransom in order to get Dave back?

Only thing that bugs me about Napier is he is an "offensive guy" but his defense seems to be what keeps him in games.

Lsu can hire recruiters!

Woodard is busy Playing long ball yesterday changed nothing

Dave Aranda would be a great hire. There’s a reason it took a $2.5 million a year deal to get "The Professor" making him the highest-paid assistant coach in NCAA history with an annual sum that is higher than the contracts of more than half of Division I head coaches including Napier by probably double. .

Overall are you personally happy with the search and feel pretty good with one of the tiger 1 guys?
What your ultimate gut feel on everything?

This is a false rumor and taken out of context. The comment from him was that of all the aspects of coaching recruiting was one of the more challenging things to do.
Regardless of what you think the origin is, his recruiting so far at Baylor makes it pretty clear that he's not some secret ace recruiter. At best he's serviceable. LSU will definitely need assistants that have that as their wheelhouse should we go that route. I know it's a common thought that LSU recruits itself...but let's not test that theory.
It's also why Aranda isn't a clearly better coach than Napier. Pure Xs and Os I don't think anyone would doubt that Aranda is about as good as they come, but Napier is one hell of a recruiter. Aranda on the other hand has just roughly maintained what Rhule did on that front.
This rah rah talk about recruiting is also a red herring. Kirby Smart really isn't a rah rah guy either, but he's one hell of a recruiter because he knows how to make kids think he really cares about them as a person. Just because you don't need to be a rah rah person doesn't mean you're going to be a great recruiter by default. See Dan Mullen who is a terrible recruiter despite being in the Xs and Os genius mold.

Dave is well respected. He should have gotten the interim job over O. O and the felon campaigned hard for the head job. Dave just remained a professional.
Many believe Dave was what really kept O afloat.
I would throughly support bringing Dave back. I believe he is 3 or 4 on the list though.
SWW doesn’t trust anyone with any information. I know he has 1 or 2 really close confidants. Not sure anyone really knows all that much. For example, he would NEVER trust Napier with his career. It isn’t happening but yet he is keeping people holding their breath. Look at the facts of his schedule and margin of wins. USL would be far back in the computer rankings because they have played nobody.

From 2003 til he came they were 112-82 .
