Now they can boast their classy coach who will never leave them for another job.

He's about 55 and has or had some health issues.

Cut denies having accepted the job

haha these coaching searches are fun to watch from the sideline. their board is melting down so bad and now they're clinging to this shred of hope.

I've been trying to follow the Volquest board today, but it's hard to read all the weeping and gnashing of teeth. It's painful.

Are they tracking planes or are all the numbers hidden now?

Has ESPN reported this? Because I won't believe it until they do.

No, just local stations in Greensboro and Knoxville using the same source. A radio station has also denied Cutcliffe accepted the job, fwiw (I think everyone is just making educated guesses).

Thanks, but that was really just a poor attempt at sarcasm on my part.

Hell, even with their mistakes, ESPN is more reliable than the Knoxville equivalent of Buddy Songy

The sports animal radio station in Knox just reported that saying Cutcliffe will be the coach is premature and they have heard reports that a "mystery" candidate is being interviewed as we speak.

Duke coach David Cutcliffe has not YET agreed to become Tennessee's next football coach, a source close to the situation told the News Sentinel on Thursday.

While there appears to be mutual interest and a deal could be struck, UT athletic director Mike Hamilton said earlier in the day that the interviewing process is ongoing.

The News Sentinel also learned that a new coach would not be hired today.

Isn't it awesome Alabama draws this shitty program as their permanent East opponent, while LSU has Florida? Its going to be awhile before LSU wins the West again...

If Tenn gets turned down by the coaches of Air Force and Duke they should get relegated to the WAC.

Why would Cutcliffe take the UT job? He would be there two years max.

Hell, Memphis may have a better coach than Tennessee now.
