Texas couldn't give half a shite what Tom Jurich thinks.

I am not sure who it is. But I gotta believe Texas already has a handshake agreement with a coach who's team is still playing. Its been too damn quiet and the smoke we have seen has been some vague rumored stuff. It could be Briles, but I think he is a fallback candidate. Its one of the following in no particular order. Jimbo, Gus, Saban. A friend of mine made a strong case for it being Gus. We will see.

Agree but have not eliminated as many coaches as you have

I did not realize that permission was needed from one school to talk to another school's coach about hiring them, is this correct? Is there some type of rule or are we talking courtesy here?
It's not required but it's sleazy not to do it. Louisville would get left in the lurch because the point of saying something to the AD is so they can negotiate and start a quiet "in case he leaves" search. One of the reasons Kiffin's midnight flight a week before signing day was so damaging to our program is that no one knew he was leaving -- that and the bastards told recruits not to show for class and tried to steal many of them away.

Looks like if for some reason Briles says no
I mean, honestly, is Briles that much of an upgrade over Mack?

I said from the start I find it hard to believe UT would go through this fiasco without having their guy locked up.
Some of the Horn posters here have told me I'm giving the UT athletic dept and Trustees too much credit, though.

It's common courtesy but Texas had pretty well shown they DGAF cause they're Texas. Ask Mack Brown about their "courtesy".

And either playing in the BCSCG or the NFL.
Doesn't make any good sense if the wait is for any other bowl game.
The only other reason for the delay would be that Texas has been turned down and they are scrambling.

There's no point in holding back on announcing the next coach unless he's preparing for BCSCG or NFL.
It "appears" that UT has been turned down. If we outsiders are to take the coaches at their word, coupled with their new contract extensions + raises as gospel that they are happy and intend to stay where they are. If they are scrambling then UT Administration has created the biggest hiring/firing frick up in college football.

Lots of smoke screens going on with the Texas HC search right

Took you all day to come up with that weak reply, huh?

someone posted this on reddit...no idea if true, just a random person

Believe it if you want but I was just told by my brother that a connection of his within the Louisville Athletics PR department was told by Tom Jurich himself (Louisville AD) that Charlie Strong going to Texas is pretty much a done deal.

From The Statesman in Austin
quote:
Jurich could not be reached for comment Wednesday. A Louisville source said school officials are acting as if they don’t know Strong’s whereabouts. The Cardinals finished their season Saturday with a win over Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

Saban to Louisville then?
...at least that is what TheDoc will be posting next. That or the press conference announcing Strong as the new UT coach is just a smokescreen to further negotiate with Saban.

Hell your coach should have taught you not to do this.
Hell Miles has been here 9 years now and I am just now taking his word as the truth and this was after turning down Michigan twice.
