Jake Spavital is the young energetic voice your program needs

Honestly with wickstrom in place I read feel like the only thing missing here for us to succeed is doner support and for Dr. Bruno to lay off on not letting athletes in.
Also I wouldn't be completely against us backing off of football some and riding this mini wave were starting to build up in basketball. I really feel like we can turn into a decent mid major school if we put more funds into it.

Half the Sun Belt could have new coaches.
Berry is fired. Fran will be fired. NMSU, Idaho, and Georgia State may fire their coaches. App State's coach may get a better gig.

Exactly
Its the lowest paid Head Coaching Job in the country. My little cousin in a RS Freshman and the players love Berry.
Who the Hell are they going to get.

Ron Roberts? SLU is 4-6. Most fans want him fired.

This is quite a large hindrance to overcome. Berry was making $360k and his coordinators are making $120k. Another poster mentioned Derek Dooley but I do not think that ULM could afford him. I performed a quick search and found an article from which I offer:
quote:
ULM head coach Todd Berry’s total salary of $360,600 per-year remains the lowest of any head football coach in the FBS and the Sun Belt Conference.
quote:
“I don’t draw comparisons or anything like that,” Berry said. “It is what it is and that’s just the situation we’re in here and we know that.”
quote:
The average salary for a head coach in the Sun Belt is $541,702.
quote:
“That’s created some issues for us in trying to draw a guy from an FCS school sometimes because their salary base is higher than what I can pay,” Berry said. “That creates some difficulties for guys with families and that’s why staff continuity is so significant.”
quote:
ULM’s total payout in assistant-coach salaries in 2014 was $724,300, the second-lowest total ahead of only Idaho. Six assistant coaches each made $73,000 and Mario Price’s total pay of $45,200 was the lowest on the staff.
Quotes taken from the News Star.
It sounds like ULM has its work cut out for them. Perhaps they can snag a good experienced HC who needs be rehabilitated or a hungry up and coming coordinator who wants to be a HC.

Grambling coach. He fixed an absolute mess quickly. If ULM really has the fewest resources in FBS football, they have to think outside the box.
Alcorns coach is another one to look at. Few resources but he turned them around quickly.
Or they could wait and see if Army fires its coach.

Glad to see Coach Fobbs doing well there.

This could affect LSU. I can see ULM making a serious run for someone like Frank Wilson. I've heard from several different places that Frank would have taken the Troy job last year if it was offered to him.
I also have a darkhorse guy: That is Mickey McCarthy at Neville. I don't have any inside info, but always wondered if he would be interested in a college job in one ever opened up.

Mickey would be wise to break into the college ranks now if he was presented with the opportunity. And Monroe would obviously be easy for him personally. He's young, I could definitely see him as a college coach. And he could probably recruit north La effectively.

ULM cannot afford Frank Wilson. He makes $650k at LSU; he is not going to take a huge pay cut to move to Monroe and take over a hurting program like ULM.

This is true. However, Troy offered $660k. With incentives, Neal Brown could make over $1M a year any year of his 4-year contract. ULM cannot compete with these numbers.

How about a gimmick offense coach? In all seriousness, it's a way for ULM to level the playing field somewhat.

If Frank Wilson wants to be a head coach, he's taking a pay cut.

Yeah, they need to hire a triple option coach. Berry was actually pretty good when Browning was there, they had some kind of salty defenses. The fact is they don't have the resources to consistently win games. Maybe a triple option offense is something they need.

President of the university is killing the program. I read a couple articles and could tell Berry was fed up. I think Berry was a good coach the president needs to go.
