Apparently, years of losing and 6/6 seasons with no bowl game is good enough for the Cajuns.

Thoughts? Does anyone really care?

Beating K State was a feather in his cap, though

Money may have been a big player. ULM let go of Weatherbie and I bet they only did that because his contract was up. If he had another year on the contract, he'd probably still be there.

Therein lies a problem. When this happens once every 15 years (like Texas A&M 15 years ago), it gives teams like USL a false hope that they can play/win regularly against BCS schools. In all actuality, USL should be in 1AA but pride and $$$ will not let that happen!

recruiting is the problem, so their solution is to have him go into the offseason with one year left on his contract

As is scheduling. Got to play 2 or 3 LSU's and Texas' of the world for $$$ payday every year. If you can't beat Florida International, what chance you got against Tennessee? You end up 5/7 or 6/6 every year at best - then whine when you don't get a bowl bid.

Isn't USL's best football record ever like 8-4? Wtf is so wrong with a 6-6 year?

and they keep trying to go out of state to do it. I know that most of the talent in the acadiana area won't qualify for college, but there is a lot of talent in state. They need to start working with the local high school coaches to start getting their players college eligible, or sponsor programs like the one Big Dave and Bandit do where they go to junior highs and tell kids what they need to do starting their freshman year of HS to be on track to be eligible for college sports.

I believe they were 6-6 for 4 of the last 6 years. The other 2 were losing seasons. Last winning season was 7/5, believe dating back to 1995.

So yes, I guess 6-6 aint so bad, untill you look at the last 14 years!

Exactly. They should play one or two more IAA schools if they want instant wins. 6-6 ain't bad when you are playing 2 BCS teams a year.

True, problem there is lets say you have 30 "blue chippers" in La this year. 20 are going to LSU, 6 are going out of state, leaving 4 that will be fought over by Tulane, La Tech, McNeese, UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, Nichols, Northwestern etc. Thats why they go out of state IMO.

in state recruiting is not really a problem, it is the fact that they are getting worked over for the second tier instate kids by LaTech and Tulane.

and McNeese is swooping in and taking the non-qualifiers

Tulane- Proabably not smart enough to get in
La Tech- Next Boise? More like next Fail
ULM- Where the frick is Monroe?
Lafayette- We're going to get shitfaced instead
Nichols- This is a college?
Northwestern- Don't they play in the B11?

See, there really isn't any reason for top kids to go to any other school in LA if not for LSU.

Cant play more than one (1) 1AA school per year and be bowl eligable. Not that it matters in USL's case anway!

I thought it was you can play more than one, but only one counts in your 6 wins you need to have to be eligible?
