LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mark Stoops has his man. The University of Kentucky football coach has made an offer to West Virginia offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson, who is expected to accept the same position with the Wildcats, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Well this certainly helps A&M's chances in the bowl game. I know Holgerson is the brains, but it hurts to miss your playcaller.

Nah. Stoops met with him but no cigar.

I'm curious as to what WVU fans think about Dawson.

Seemed like WVU was much more balanced this past year.

Thought Dana was the play caller in MTown. Anyway, this cat is part of the Mumme coaching philosophy. If Stoops likes him, I'm on board. Let's see what D Harris has to say about the hire.

You guys will happy with him. He is a great guy. He is actually from the Baton Rouge area.

He was OK I guess, he is a cool dude and the players liked him. It's hard to really get a gauge on his performance because he didn't recruit and obviously Dana is the real OC.

As for his duties, he sat in the box during games and gave Dana the defensive alignment and suggestions as to how they should attack it. I guess he'll have more control of the offense at UK.

I gotta credit Dana for going more run than his mentors. It's been a sh#tshow at times with power teams, but he can ugly-up an air-raid game. Hopefully Dawson works out there.

Yep- from Clinton. Good family, great guy. I'm really happy to see him having some success in a difficult profession.

Probably not a bad hire...you never know when the HC runs the offense and you get the OC.

Played against him in high school and with him in college. Regardless of what other people think, I never thought he was that athletic so his football acumen had to be pretty high to be as good as he was.

It's hard to say, because other than being Dana's drinking buddy and signaling down formations from the booth on game days, no one really knows exactly what he did.

He did coach the receivers when Austin and Bailey were there, so he can take credit for that I suppose.
