DD dropped this name this morning, first I have heard of him. Current wide receivers coach for the Buffalo Bills and played at LSU.

Tyke is just coming back home, . . . Great! I don't mind the hire, although I was hoping Andre Fontenette would get a legitimate shot at the gig.

also, he is from Conroe TEX, prime recruiting territory,
as well as holds a masters from LSU, and 3 yr LSU letterman, and WR coach bona fides from the NFL.
The real deal.

He'd be a great hire...but I'm strugglng to find a reason why he'd come back to LSU for anything short of an OC position. Should we go from an OC who holds scoring records at multiple D1 schools (regardless of what happened this year and in the past) to an OC who has never been one?

well if the Buffalo staff is replaced and he needs a job, we'd be ideal for him if he can't find another NFL job

TSD just confirmed this story.

Haley went from The Bears to LSU in the same position and he had no connection to LSU

Did he actually get fired(and I don't remember it) or are you implying he was told to find a job.

I've been following Tyke's career since he was at LSU as a player. He's been up for jobs at LSU before, but mostly early on in his career when he might not have been ready. I feared once he got to the NFL he might never come back to college. Maybe this is our chance to get him.

Don't think he was officially fired.
But I do believe the Bears were unhappy with his performance and made it clear he should be looking for work.
Regardless, I don't think that's any measure of whether or not he'll be a good coach at LSU.

i can see why they were unhappy now

Well early reports aint looking too bright.

For sure.
I'll give him a slight break. Our talent level at DL blows.
I wanna see what he does once some of these young horses get rolling... Brockers, Montgomery, Davenport etc.
Woods was a bust. Alexander lost what he had when he lost his knee. Nevis actually recorded quite a few TFLs this year. Alem gives great effort but wasn't disciplined on the field. Pep is a marginal talent.
Edwards and Ag are young and showed flashes.
We had very little depth too. Losing someone like Favorite was big not so much for talent but for giving guys a blow...

For sure and the OL eis even worse.
Lets pray that Haley can actually do something for the young guys. Earl Lane ruined most of the talent our DL had.

Yeah, I like Haley's communicating style from the videos I've seen. The players seem to be tuned in to him and playing hard for him. Don't know if he's teaching great technique and such...

Same here, would be good to see him and Linda back in La. Some forget that Tyke was at Fla. for a while. Knows people in Tx, La and Fla.

OK the DL sucks, trust me you will all be happy to see Alem Woods and Alexander gone. I am pleased with Haley so far. As our guys seemed to play with better technique. The young guys are still learning and made allot of mistakes.
Nevis is over weight.
Woods and Alexander are just big bodies, they have no push and cant fight off blockers in the second quarter, and the are too gassed in the 4th.
Alem, he is too frustrating, I am amazed Haley held restraint when talking to Alem. Run contain is not in Alem's vocabulary. He does not care either. He gets sacks.
Downs is just young.
I feel the staffs biggest mistake, when realizing that the DL was the weakest link in the D, should have played more freshman.
